SOLVED - Websites in The UK That Sell Aussie Wine and Will Take an Order and Ship It to UK Residents

I am looking to send a bottle of Aussie wine to a friend of mine in the UK for Christmas.

Does anyone know of any websites that allow Aussies to order online for delivery within the UK? I have tried doing an internet search but having problems finding anything useful. A few I looked at don't seem to give the option of ordering from here and having it shipped in the UK, ie only geared up for UK purchasers. Maybe someone has been down this path before and solved it.

Thanks

Have a look at the supermarkets Asda, Sainsbury, Tesco they usually have Australian and NZ wine, not fancy stuff though
Amazon UK sell Australian wine too
I’ve used all of them in the past no problem

    • Agree with the above. Also marks and spencer (be sure to check the uk website not Aus) or selfridges or other department stores that also sell liquor.

Amazon.co.uk sells Australian wine. Order through them for local delivery.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=australian+wine&ref=nb_sb_noss_…

Don't have an account with Amazon UK, sign up and also get free Prime for 30 days. This is what we did for UK Christmas presents.

  • Can you just order it under their address with your email?

    • Often the issue is the Australian bank card.

They have next day delivery if you order before 6am and if you order more than $180 worth they will deliver for free.

  • Easy way if Aus Amazon customer is to add friend's address and buy from UK website. Nice to see the best seller is Aussie, https://www.amazon.co.uk/McGuigan-Black-Label-Merlot-Case/dp…. Free delivery. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Best-Sellers-Grocery-Wine/zgbs/groc…

If nothing suitable on Amazon try an Amazon seller direct, https://www.clickndrink.co.uk/, £6 to deliver 12 bottles of wine.

  • Buy wine locally
    Go to local post office
    -The wonder of logistics-
    They get the wine

    • It’s difficult to ship alcohol overseas due to customs regulations.

Royal Mail says “The United Kingdom admits articles up to £15 value, except alcohol and tobacco products, free of duty and taxes.” Implying you can’t send alcohol at all.

Though HMRC states “The United Kingdom admits private gifts intended for the personal or family use of the addressee free of duty and VAT up to a value of £39 provided the following limits are not exceeded: Wine - 2 litres.”

So maybe okay if you courier it and they deal with customs, but if you post it (i.e. Royal Mail) it might be rejected?

      • due to customs regulations.

Looks and sounds like a bottle of water to me

  • Thanks everyone, I bought a bottle of Pinot Noir on Amazon UK to have with his Christmas Goose, and had it shipped to him. He'll get it next Monday. A bit more expensive than the usual calendar I send, but I refuse point blank to pay Aust Post's exhorbitant postal charges any more. Postage is 10 times the cost of the calendar!
