Can't you just use a second hand modem off gumtree and use it as bridge mode?

    • +1

+1. Would also work better than these range extenders.

      • I am not up to date with technology. My neighbour gave me his wifi and asked me to use it as he is on an unlimited plan.
I can get full wifi signal from one side of my house and nothing towards the other end. I want a device (cheap) to boost my neighbours signal into my house. How can I do it with a bridge mode modem? Does a bridge mode modem captures a wifi signal and increase its signal strength?

      • Why does it work better?

        • +1

it worked better in my case….might not work better for you as its dependent on the router, but at least its cheaper if you already have a spare router

@jv: 1 post, 1 comment, yellow learner plate next to their name. Have probably avoided contributing to the community out of fear of getting flamed.

            You're seriously insufferable.

    $43 at Good Guys Commercial.

  • Cheaper at Goodguys, currently part of BF10 promotion

  • Look like the price has gone back to $79.95

  • It's cheap I guess but newbies be aware this will halve your available wireless bandwidth if you use both bands,

More range half the speed. Also more latency.

If you are relatively technical you can split the bands and only latency will be the Achilles heel but if you can spend a little more a proper access point is going to be far more beneficial - or tri band mesh if you have even more of a budget.
