Not the cheapest like $100 in the past, but still not a bad deal. Many of us may think this is too expensive, but this aus made crepe pan won't compromise the quality. This is built to last life long if you follow the instructions for cleaning and seasoning the pan.

Details

Wanting a pan that heated like French carbon steel but without the handle rivets and browned food like cast iron but without the extra weight, food-loving mechanical engineer MJ Henry developed AUS-ION Pans. This is not traditional riveted steel. This is seamless one-piece of Australian iron. Each piece is designed for a lifetime of performance with professional chefs and serious home cooks in mind. Designed and constructed to be the best of their kind in the world, AUS-ION Pans are made with such quality and integrity that they will last for multiple generations and centuries.

bit of a noob question but that the difference between this and Lodge products (apart from country of manufacture)?

    • +2

AUS-ION are a bit lighter. Lodge are made from pure cast iron, and some of the larger ones are heavy AF, but they're super-solid and great performers. I've never used AUS-ION myself but anyone I've spoken to who has says they're pretty good.

I have 7-8 AUS-ION pans of varying descriptions, but they're there best I've used. Love them.

I’ve got a good few of the Aus-ion pans, and it’s pretty hard to go back to cooking on anything else these days. Need to save to get some noni pots next.

I've been backing Aus-ion products on kick starter for years now. I have many many of their products.

The crepe pan get's the least use though. I recommend the sautee bombee pan as a wok - it is my primary wok.

I have multiple skillets and use it as an everyday pan.

I only use my non stick pan for pancakes and grilling marinaded meats (like honey soy chicken).

I also have their stainless steel products for curries or tomato based sauces.

Agree with others, check out Kickstarter, they seem to be quite cheap if you can wait.

Have 5 of their products, very good and will last a lifetime.

Iron pans great for vegetarians to get extra iron into their diet also.

Haven’t tried their stainless steel products yet, so expensive!

Why are they cheaper in the US?

  • +1

Great pans, way lighter than cast iron (though the crepe one is the thickest - 4mm). I spent on pans several hundreds a year to make my wife happy, until we met Solidtekniks.
