Does this ace the Phillips air fryer?

    • Hi there - The Vortex Plus 5.7L is a true XXL and high end Digital Air Fryer - it takes up to a 1.8Kg Chicken or a 1.4Kg bag of big fries. For the Price, it is exceptional value v the competitive set with auto and manual over-ride programmes, for the perfect crispy and crunchiness you want from an air fryer.

      • Thanks for the detailed response.

Just want to know before I purchase as this is fairly new and couldn't find any consumer reviews

But you are right. Phillips air fryer is like 299 plus on a sale!

This seems to be great for the money. Looks very shiny and I like shiny 😂

        • +1

Yes - product is brand new and Reviews hopefully start to filter in soon. Amazon AU are the first retailer to grab both of the new products from the Instant Brands Company in Australia and range them. Definitely shiny and new.

        • I bought this recently and I noticed it cooks differently to Philips in terms of meats. With the Philips airfryer, meat turns out more tender and juicy whereas the Instant makes it dryer. At the bottom of the container, there is a mix of oil and meat juice whereas with the Philips, its comprised mainly of oil.
I will be returning my Instant airfryer and repurchasing another Philips one based on this experience.

      No

  • If you are like me and wondering what the 6 functionalities claimed are:

“6 built-in Smart Programs to air fry, roast, broil, bake, reheat, and dehydrate.”

  • Is the temp displayed in Celsius or Fahrenheit?

  • +1

The temp is in Celsius - This is a fully localised and certified ANZ Complied product.

  • Oh my goodness.. theres an IP that is also an air fryer? I use my IP Duo Nova (from another OzB deal) and a Kmart Air Fryer constantly but together they take up a lot of benchspace. This is an ideal solution - shut up and take my money :)

    • Hahha - Love it - KFC anyone ? You could basically make your own version of Fried Chicken in the Duo Crisp product as well - great price at the moment as well.

  • Any plans on bringing the Instant Pot Duo Evo Plus to Australia? More specifically in the larger 7.6L size?

    • Hi JJ - at this stage no for the Duo Evo Plus. We do have more new products coming in the new year however.

  • What's the difference between this and the "Instant Pot Duo Crisp + Air Fryer, Multi-Use Pressure Cooker and Air Fryer, Stainless Steel, 8L"

What does each do that the other doesn't?

  • Hi OP thanks for the post.
Does the Instant Pot Duo Crisp + Air Fryer, Multi-Use Pressure Cooker and Air Fryer, Stainless Steel, 8L do everything the Instant Vortex Plus 5.7L does?

    • Hi Zacky - The Duo Crisp does the following :

The pressure cooker lid offers 6 wet cooking functions: use it to quickly pressure cook, sauté, steam, slow cook, sous vide and warm. The Air Fryer lid offers 5 crisp cooking functions: use it to quickly air fry, roast, bake, broil and dehydrate.

The Vortex Plus does this :

Use the preset Smart Programs to easily air fry, roast, broil, bake, reheat or dehydrate. Air fry juicy chicken wings and crispy fries, onion rings and other vegetables. Roast chicken parmesan and stuffed mushrooms. Bake fluffy cinnamon rolls and twice-baked potatoes in half the time. Reheat leftovers in a jiffy. You can even dehydrate your own fruit strips and kale chips.

  • OP what is the wattage of this air fryer please ? Any info on the actual size of this product ? I want a Philips because the wattage does make a difference to the food cooked.

  • Hi - here is the information from the Compliance Label.

Model: Vortex Plus 6 Volume: 5.7 Litres
    Voltage: 220-240V~
    50-60Hz Power: 1450-1700W

  • Hi OP, how can we make rice in the duo crisp?
Is there any instructions available ?Hope to replace the rice cooker as well

  • Hi - you can cook rice in the Duo Crisp using the Pressure cooking function. Although it's not a pre-set button like a stand alone Instant Pot - that pre set button for Rice uses a timed Pressure Cook mode. The general rule for rice cooking is :

    2 cups of rice
    3 cups of water
    Close and lock the lid
Turn the steam release handle to Sealing
Pressure Cook on High for 8 minutes
Release Pressure via Quick Steam release
    Serve

If you still have a little water left, then adjust next time for slightly more cooking

    • I hope the Crispy is self sealing or might have to send it back heh

      • Duo Crisp has the advanced auto sealing and quick release functions for the Pressure Cooking lid as per the Duo Nova lid.

  • Are we getting the Max with the touch screen? Or the Wifi model?

    • Hi. Not at this stage for the Max or Wi-Fi.

  • Hi OP. Have a few questions about this model.

    Where is it made?

How long is the warranty period?

This product has been in the US market for some time now. Whilst it is highly rated overall there were some concerns with burning plastic/Chemical smell
coming from the product. Was this due to a bad batch in production?

I'm not 100% sold on this but it is definitely on my radar.

I did purchase the Duo Nova recently which I am yet to try but it did seem the better of the 3 products on offer.

    • Hi KDW.

Can you let me know where you are picking up that USA info from ?

The ANZ range is fully certified to SAA, CB, ICE and EMS standards for 220 to 240V. We haven’t had any similar feedback through the certification process.

All ANZ products come with a 1year warranty direct from the Company. This does not negate the normal protections afforded by Australian Competition Law.

The products of Instant Brands are all fully designed and invented in Canada. They are manufactured exclusively with only the best certified and long term contract manufacturers in China.

  • Are we getting the Pro Crisp™ + Air Fryer? with handles for the inner pot?

    • -1

      Hi Ollie.

Not at this stage as we are rolling out some other exciting products in 2021 for Australia and New Zealand.

      • Isn't the Evo plus and the pro Crisp the newest products out at the moment? If you dont plan on getting them at this stage, what other exciting products are there for 2021? Wouldn't they just be all older models?

        • Hi JJ

The range we have in ANZ is very new model wise. The Duo Nova range is less than 2 years old and of course, features the better steam release functionality. The Duo Crisp and Vortex Plus are less than 12 months old in 110V format. Brand new in 220-240V format

One of the things to be mindful of, is that if you see a USA 110V product on the US sites, it does take some time to re comply and certify and to manufacture in 220-240 V formats.

In terms of what is coming in 2021 - stay tuned - they will be brand new products in 220V-240V format that may or may not have, just been launched in the USA market - I can't give the game away just yet :)

          • @InstantPotOz: Thanks for the reply and clarification. Excited to see what you have lined up for 2021.

  • All good

  • Reviews are that the Evo Plus is brittle?
Just too many features to last?

    C7 OR C8 error code?

  • Ok - let me check that out for you - not the range we have launched in ANZ then.

  • Hi Ollie - these are the review posted on Amazon US. 91% are 4 or 5 stars.

    5 Star – 2087 and 374 global reviews
    4 Star – 227 ratings and 29 global reviews
    3 Star - 78 ratings and 17 global reviews
    2 Star – 33 ratings and 16 global reviews
    1 Star – 110 ratings and 65 global reviews

  • THANKS for your hard work…

Lady on youtube says she has had 2 Evo plus AND the good news is that Instant Pot has great customer service and replacement policy, so we expect that in ANZ too :P

She says she would buy it again BUT for others who live far away from getting quick replacement, she recommends the basic Duo

Also tip for cooking rice, another Lady says:
3min on High PLUS 10min natural depressurization using 1:1.25 Rice-water ratio

Still would like the models for inner pots with handles though.
