thanks! was waiting for this one!

  • +3

So guys, what do I buy?

  • +5

Something worth ~$20 but always crosscheck Amazon AU price, which can be cheaper even after 50% discount.

    • +4

Thats true! I purchased Halsey's new book and it was $22 on Amazon so with the 50% Cashback capped at $10, I didnt even both waiting for this deal.

      • +1

That's not a purchase I would be advertising to the world :P

        • +2

Well I'm glad I'm not you.

        • +2

          What? Halsey is awesome!

    • +5

Exactly this. They used to be cheaper for almost everything so 50% was great. Now it is hard to find something that is cheaper, sometimes even after the cashback. But still worth a look for any bargains of course, can still save even just a couple of dollars.

      • +3

Yeah its weird, youre giht that Book Depository used to be great on prices. Now their discounted prices are sort of average. Really depends I guess.

        • +6

That's because Amazon acquired Book Depository back in 2011. So they've got full control of the pricing.

  • +1

Last deal I went to buy a book and it was $30 dearer here than anywhere else. Stick with Amazon or Booktopia.

    • +14

try using booko.com.au to track the cheapest prices. I have a Wishlist there and when these offers come up, i can easily check if the price-$10 is cheaper than (almost) any other alternative in the market

      • Thanks

    • Last book I got was cheaper there so I guess it pays to check either way. Ps Amazon owns book depository.

  • Strange that this is bought by amazon but the pricing are still a bit off for some.

  • +1

I buy books all the time. I used to buy 95% from Book Depository but this year they’ve been so expensive that even when I get vouchers I don’t use them as I can get elsewhere cheaper.

    • I've noticed an increase in prices too.

      • .. blame Bezos!

    • +1

Where else is cheaper than book depo? I've checked the book search engine and book depo is still the cheapest…???

      • Big w is always cheapest now

        • They don't have a big range though

      • +1

I get most from either Amazon or Booktopia. If they’re new release or mass market paperback they’re cheaper at big w, Target etc. but I always check all before and this whole year Book Depository has never been cheaper.

  • I was waiting for this but I had to order elsewhere as it's getting a bit too close to Xmas and wanted to be sure it would be delivered.

    • When you click on the book you want, under the price it does tell you "Expected to be delivered to Australia by Christmas". I had mine last time (the last 50% CB deal) delivered within a week. Depends on how much earlier than Christmas you need this by.

      • +1

Yeah I know, just can never guarantee with Aus Post, especially since they are getting more busy for Xmas. Oh well, too late to worry about it now the book I ordered has arrived.

  • +2

Yay! Building my Yotsuba&! collection, one deal at a time!

    • You'll be building that out forever…

      • There's only 14 volumes in English so far; this is what, the third or fourth 50% off deal? If it was something like Naruto, then yeah they'd take forever

        • The Naruto series would just be expensive.

The Yotsuba and Berserk collections will take forever because they'll never be complete…

I always go to the bargain bin. It is about the only place where you can find prices competitive with others.

OP, does this work on book pre-orders from their website? 35 days till the postage date. thanks

    • +1

Mine got tracked. hasn’t been published yet (Aug 2021).

      • 15 mins early for this deal, or you mean preorder gets tracked in general?

        • +1

I’m talking about the same deal last few weeks. Preorder seems to be accepted as well.

    • Interested in this info too!

  • Mythos by Stephen Fry for a steal and cashback already tracking. Brilliant.

  • +1

    Assume pre order is ok?

    • +1

Mine got tracked. Worst case you can just cancel it.

Don't forget to follow all these steps to maybe get cashback.

It can take up to 7 days for a store to automatically track and report sales to Cashrewards. If your transaction hasn’t appeared in your Cashrewards account after 7 days, the best option is to complete a Cashback Claim via your ‘My Click History’ by clicking the yellow 'Send A Claim' button.

This 'Send a Claim' button will display 8 days after your purchase date. You can file a claim anytime of the day or night through your Cashrewards account and once we receive the claims request from you, our claims team will investigate the issue with the store on your behalf. Please note that no store will investigate an untracked claim after 60 days from the purchase date. We encourage members to file a Cashback Claim if their transaction was not tracked by the store before 45 days and ideally after 8 days from the purchase date.

    Such a simple process.
