BLURAY PLAYER - Best bang for buck

Recently bought a Sony Bravia 32" Full HD LCD Internet TV (KDL32CX520) and am looking for a Blu-ray player to accompany it.
Don't know too much on what to look for so all suggestions are welcome.

Thanks in advance!!

    What about a PS3?

the great thing about the ps3 is that your tv probably has bravia sync so I think you might be able to operate the ps3 with your remote. My mates one does that.

I have one (ps3) and does the job and is kept up to date with software. But if you're not a gamer… well you lose a good reason for getting one (i primarily use it to play blu-rays too…)
A dedicated blu-ray player will give you quieter operations, fits nicer in the entertainment unit and will generally play the movie quicker.

If you want it to play nice with bravia sync, I suggest looking at the sony players first and then list out the features you want the most and go from there - some will have tivo like recording capabilities etc.

If you find the prices are skyrocketing to 300+ I'd probably start looking at the ps3 since its not a bad thing to have a multimedia unit.

      • Yeh, i am not really going to use the console for gaming so that is why i am looking for a bluray exclusively. Any sales on sony players anyone can give me a heads up on?

        • Even if you are not playing games, the PS3 will do iView, youtube, browsing, music and videos. You can also get PlayTV and use it as a PVR. I'm not saying get one, but consider the cost differences.

+1 on the Bravia-sync. The Sony TV remote nicely runs everything on the PS3 (other than playing games). The PS3 also does ABC iView.

Bravia-sync can be bit buggy I find. It works perfectly with my Philips Blu Ray player (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/54873) but only on occasion does it work with my PS3. Mind you, my TV is almost 2 years old so I'm sure Sony have made improvements.
