Sydney Property Buyers: Domain.com.au Vs Realestate.com.au

Looking to sell my home in lower north shore Sydney. Ozbargainer in me doesn’t really want to pay to advertise on both domain and realestate, but my desire to get max price suggests I’ll probably need to…

Curious to whether you search exclusively on Domain / RE or you look on both?!

I personally use Domain simply because it's a slicker app.

I have quickly learnt that the photos they put up are all touched up and fake, even down to the furniture and surrounding area, and that enquiring anything immediately puts you on the agents daily spam list so kinda stopped now. Also really frustrating when they don't put guide prices up so have no idea if it's within budget looking for or triple my budget. There's some really frustrating crap here in regards to property advertisement.

  • I've had trouble with realestates app and website. I find domain more stable. So I use domain exclusively

If you want to be creepy, advertise on FB marketplace

      Actually I tried that… didn’t get many hits 🤣

Domain website with the Edge (chrome) add on Koala Data

Being able to see at least the top of the price search range that the listing will show up in is far more helpful than 'contact agent'.

  • Real-estate.com.au is mostly owned by newscorp/Murdoch if you prefer to avoid that guy go domain

    • I think we can give him a pass if he's selling the most valuable thing he'll ever sell in his life so far.

  • Excuse my ignorance but don't you have to be a licenced real estate agent to advertise on realestate.com.au? I think that's how PropertyNow (who took REA to the ACCC in 2011) etc make money. They charge about the price of a single listing on domain but you get listed everywhere. My friend used them but ended up using a real estate agent after dealing with lowball offers.
