7 Day Price Match on Mobile Phones @ Telstra

109

Not sure if this is classified as deal or should be in forum. I will leave that to moderator.

Seems good if we can combine bonus deals that Telstra usually runs: Bonus rewards points, monthly credit, bonus google devices and others.

"Claim is done online and must be done within 7 days of receiving your phone. We’ll assess your price match claim within 14 business days and send you an email confirming the outcome. A lump sum price match credit will appear on the first or second bill after your price match claim is approved. Outright devices can be price matched only if you have an existing Telstra account number and an active post-paid service"

What products are included?
Claims can be submitted for: mobile phones purchased from Telstra outright (only for existing customers with a Telstra account number), on repayment, using trade-in or with points plus pay. Pre-paid phones are excluded.

What prices are excluded?
A lower price is ineligible if the offer is:

  • for secondhand or refurbished devices
  • for products with pricing set significantly lower than the RRP or Market Value
  • for clearance, liquidation, auction/warehouse or likewise sale items
  • inclusive of cashback, coupon offers or gift cards
  • for commercial quantities
  • from an online only retailer
  • from an international retailer
  • on Gumtree, Facebook or any other grey market channel
  • a corporate benefit price
  • priced incorrectly

    Not a deal or bargain.

Shouldn't be up to a mod to have to move or delete junk posts.

    This is ozbargain not ozpricematch

They will probably take weeks or months to process the request if they even bother do it at all. Plus you have to actually purchase the phone at the higher price first. Not really a deal

Yeah good luck arguing with their "chat" who takes ages to reply every time and has no idea what they're talking about.

Yep I had to make about 9-10 points of contact including the chat, calling and 3 trips to a telstra store with fairly long wait times just to get something resolved. Horrible customer service

  • Make PSA forum post, doesn’t look like a bargain.

    Ineligible for:

for products with pricing set significantly lower than the RRP or Market Value

You've got to have an active postpaid plan with them to get a price match that they then can refuse on the basis of the other deal being too cheap?
Why not just buy it from the other deal… If you're buying outright from Telstra with a Telstra post-paid plan you should hand in your Ozbargain membership.
    No deal.

"for products with pricing set significantly lower than the RRP or Market Value"

We Will match any bargain as long as it isn't really a bargain.

It's the sort of behaviour I'd expect from Telstra.

    • Yeah that condition is totally ridiculous.

If a store can sell it for well under RRP (eg. basically every Samsung flagship after 3 months), no reason Telstra can’t.

Obviously it would mean that big discounts like the recent 50% off deal for some Samsung models at JB would be ineligible.

Edit: HA, it’s even worse! You have to buy from Telstra FIRST, then submit “evidence” and hope they accept and give you a refund of the difference. Absolutely laughably bad “deal”.

  • Or just buy it from the competitor who offered the better price…

  • The exclusions are too ridicoulous

  • I don't think this is really a bargain, just buy it from the place who has the price lower.
More so a PSA if for some reason you get a phone through Telstra and then find it cheaper later, but good luck getting Telstra to process it :D

  • The exclusions wipe out anyone selling the iPhone 12 pro max 512gb cheaper. Shame. 7 day guarantee is still nice though, who else "price matches" on handset on a plan. Y'all complain too much.

  • Has anyone had any luck matching against the Samsung Education Store? it's not excluded in these T's & C's?
