Newegg Postage Costs

Newegg want to charge me $40 postage for a few fans. Does this seem right to you? I would have expected around $10 but $40 is pretty steep and it really ruins the deal.

Does anyone know any tricks to getting reduced postage for Newegg?

  • No tricks, postage to Australia is quite steep and time consuming currently given the limited flights.

Newegg have always charged higher international freight in my experience (than say B&H).

Postage from US is generally savage, MUST check before you order.

I would have expected around $10

It costs $10 to ship from one suburb to another suburb in the same city!

Get the fans locally or try eBay.

Newegg is a marketplace. It is not always responsible for fulfilment — only those products that say "SHIPPED BY NEWEGG" have Newegg as responsible for the shipping.

Assuming you know this and selected fans that are indeed shipped by Newegg (since you said Newegg wants to charge you $40 for the shipping) you did not narrow down the "Ships from Country" when searching for the fans.

If they are shipping from the US, they will ship using UPS, so Newegg is merely passing along the charge that UPS will charge.

Similarly, if you tick ship from country = China, you can order four fans for $0 shipping (Note that Newegg is not shipping these products).

Or you could tick ship from country = Australia and choose fans shipped by Newegg for $12 shipping. Four Deepcool DP-FDC-XF120 120mm 120mm would be $38.40 including shipping.

So the "trick" is to ignore products that have high shipping charges; choose China (Free) or Australia ($12) or $9 for, Israel, or Taiwan.
Generally assuming 120x120mm fans, it looks like:
    Generic - China (4x Huntkey non-LED $57.20 shipped https://www.newegg.com/global/au-en/p/1YF-016T-00001?Item=9S…)
    Noctua - Taiwan (4x Noctua NF-S12B $83.76 shipped https://secure.newegg.com/global/au-en/shop/cart) <- saves > $32 compared to Australia https://staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=Noctua+NF-S12B
Deepcool, Corsaid, - Hong Kong (5x fans $107 shipped https://www.newegg.com/global/au-en/deepcool-rf120m-case-fan…)
-> always check staticice because it's just $77.37 locally at https://www.megabuy.com.au/deepcool-rf-120m-120mm-high-brigh…

Recommended countries: China, Australia, Netherlands, Singapore, Israel, or Taiwan

But after all that, I found the best deal would be:

    4x Deepcool 120mm XFAN120 https://www.megabuy.com.au/deepcool-120mm-xfan120-1300rpm-fa…
Shipped from Australian online dealer is just $50.15 (or you could save $16 if you pick it up from Chermside QLD).

Wouldn't you be buying from a more specialised site?

I'm sure there's one I've heard of recently, that sells Only Fans.

That joke was so bad, it was good.

  • Newegg want to charge me $40 postage for a few fans. Does this seem right to you?

Then don't buy them, look elsewhere.
