Mini Countryman PHEV or Volvo PHEV

Hi

Tossing between the two. Just had a baby and the current car (Accord 2014) is proving to be small and a bit maintenance needy.

Budget is around 70~

Tossing for PHEV/EV because I have solar and majority of my trips are less than 40km.

Looked at Tesla M3 - but small for the crib.
Among the two, I’m leaning towards Mini because it looks nicer and is a bit fun to drive. Doesn’t have LKAS or blind spot though. XC40 is a bit boring but has all the assists package. XC40 is 5k more dearer than the countryman.

Mini comes with a five year service plan. Volvo not sure yet.

Any yays or nays on either?

Yeah, Lexus NX Hybrid. Or Rav4 Hybrid and pocket the near $30k in spare change.

    • Good one, 2nd that.

      • I don’t think anyone of them are plug-in? RAV4 plug-in would’ve been very nice

The RAV4 Prime is it, but we're not allowed to have them in Australia. The fossil fuel lobby has totally captured this country.

        • Ok, Outlander PHEV and pocket the change.

    • And the fact EV / PHEV tax will be coming for your car shortly.

    Wouldn't touch either

  • tbh I would personally just get a regular hybrid if I were in your shoes. Though it looks like you're leaning towards the mini so buy that. Go with your heart ultimately.
