Noticed Way Amazon Makes “Best Seller” Items

So I have noticed this with a few Amazon AU deal posts now, basically some average product goes for a good price.
Most recent deal was this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/589653

I check the link to see what it is, Amazon product page ok everything normal.

Then it’s extremely popular for some reason and becomes sold out (out of stock).

I check link again after, and there is a “#1 Best Seller” badge on the product now.

So they could have just listed 100 units to sell out at a low price, then make product “#1 Best Seller” then they could add stock later and have it come up as “recommended” on Amazon’s front page (for its category etc) at its normal price.

Maybe conspiracy or maybe just coming to conclusion too quickly.

Yes OP I agree with you , I have seen this happen on Amazon before.

    • Yes thanks.
I have probably seen it around 4 or 5 times but I only started noticing it recently by double checking links after they sold out.
