Cashrewards Cashback Guarantee is basically useless

Just a heads up for anyone thinking of using Cashrewards Cashback Guarantee

It doesn't guarantee anything and is basically useless.

I recently made 2 purchases through banggood which didn't track even though it tracked my click to the site and I was able to provide an invoice for my purchase. No coupons, code, BG money or anything was used.

After submitting a claim, I got a response from CR saying that my purchased had been credited through another channel.
When pressed on what this actually meant, they just repeated their answer, and when asked about the guarantee they dodged the question altogether.

The process is always the same, clicked through the browser, no other windows, no other tabs, no extensions or blockers. I've never had an issue using CR on any other site besides banggood.

Now they've rejected my ~$5 claim, I have zero confidence of them approving my larger ~$30 claim and remain skeptical about future purchases involving large cash backs.

If you're on the fence about using CR to buy something and the deciding factor is their cashback guarantee, don't count on it.

    Film it next time. I did that with shopback with a very large purchase. They rejected it but after i showed them the video and complained publicly on product review.com.au, they promptly gave me the cashback.

    Do you run other browser add ons?
    ShopBack add on tracks even if you do not click the activate (i found this out the hard way) which would mean they get the cashback even if you choose CashRewards

      I don't even have a shop back account. I don't use any browser extensions at all.

      i'm curious - how did you come to that conclusion? And if so, wouldn't all your purchases get rejected then?

    Using VPN?

    I thought the guarantee means once is tracked, and if the vendor doesn't pay CR, you still get the cashback from CR? Thanks for providing the link to them. Never thought about this guarantee before

      That's certainly how it reads, but doesn't appear to be the case. No VPN. This transaction was the same as the dozens I've completed before without any issues. I'm confident that the issue isn't on my end.

    i remember they used to parade this guarantee prominantly on their main page but couldn't find it when a massive cashback got declined recently.

    when enquired, all the customer rep would tell me was "this transaction was initiated directly through [the retailer], and not through Cashrewards" (not true) and "the store's decision to decline your cashback is final" (so what's the point of this guarantee then?).

    not happy but what can you do * shrug *.

    Hmmm, interesting they even guarantee cashback…..i bet they'll remove that now that you've linked it…

      Basically this. Someone claimed your cashback, we can't tell you who or how it happened or what you can do next time to prevent it.
      But rest assured, trust us and follow the steps and next time it will track, we promise!

    Signed out of OzBargain? You'll be served affiliate links by Banggood. Did you look at any review sites, review videos or comparison sites prior to your big purchase? They would have been serving affiliate links too.

      I did all of reviews and research on my phone. When time came to buy I basically turned on my pc. Fired up Chrome, logged into cash rewards, searched for banggood, clicked shop now, completed my purchase and then shut down.

    Sounds like I was lucky. It was $50 product at only 1% cashback however.

    Cashback tracks and pays the small purchases but routinely rejects larger ones.

    After a bit of back and forth with a different rep they have:

    "​But as a one time courtesy, we would gladly provide cash back to you."

    Still no mention of what the guarantee actually covers, who ended up getting credited for my purchase and how it happened and no news on my larger purchase that didn't track.

      Apparently the "guarantee" is only:

      any untracked claims in an effort to get cashback from the store

      but won't guarantee you actually getting your cashback from them.

          Pretty much….if you're lucky, they might turn around, after a while, and say "oh the the retailer has finally decided to pay out so we're paying you now" deal and then you live happily ever after. Otherwise you probably wont hear back from them ever again…..which may prompt you to not use any sort of cashback system ever again because such a system in unreliable as a discount measure for your purchase unless you don't buy for the supposed cashback in which case why are you even bothering to sign in just to attempt a cashback purchase if you dont even care about it….?
