Following the success of my trivia website RaiseYourBrain, I published several award-winning compilations of hard-to-believe facts that have reached hundreds of thousands of readers. One of the chapters in each trivia book was “Disturbing Facts about Our World”.

I decided to fill an entire volume with facts about upsetting crimes and mayhem, combined with unbelievable yet real instances of misfortune and misery. This is a book where grim examples of bigotry and hypocrisy are intertwined with amusing stories of bad luck. In the spirit of the times we live in, I dedicated a whole chapter to COVID-19 trivia and weird medical conditions. I am well aware that many potential readers might be overwhelmed by the condensed negativity, but hey… a fact is a fact!

He may have used his powers too much, but he handled the Melbourne COVID cluster in an ok manner.

and yet, when SA found a few cases, they copied the VIC strategy by locking everyone down. I guess the problem isn't really with the person in charge, but with people not following the rules. Before the second wave, Ii would use a mask when going into a supermarket, and I swear to god, I would be the only person in a 300+ crowd wearing a mask….a few weeks later, cases exploded and we went into lockdown again.

Having contact tracing that works is by far more important than locking down people that don't have the virus…

How many people have caught it from supermarkets ?

You mean you are advocating Sweden's strategy of "a no-lockdown strategy at the beginning of the pandemic, instead relying on a more relaxed approach which relied on voluntary social distancing measures."?

And now "Sweden has begun gradually to retreat from its no-lockdown stance in recent months as the government struggles to stem an alarming rise in the number of coronavirus infections".

'We need help': Sweden's capital sounds the alarm as its hospitals fill with coronavirus patients

          • @sanmigueelbeer:

            You mean like Sweden's strategy

I did they use unqualified, untrained private security guards?

they use unqualified, untrained private security guards?

Why would they use security guards when Sweden did not believe in any levels of "lock downs"?

Seriously, jv, stop posting irrelevant political comments. This is meant to be a website about bargains, not a forum for you to whinge and complain about your political views.

        stop posting irrelevant political comments.

It's relevant to the topic of the book.

        • Yet your comment has already been marked as off-topic. Jog on, champ.

            • @jv: Was just providing a 'direct response to your unsubstantiated claim' to counter your argument.
Your attempts to troll me are quite sad and pathetic.

@kjg: You're the only one here trolling and attacking other OzBargain members…

                • @jv: How so? Sorry I hurt your feelings by criticising your off-topic commentary and trying to encourage you to follow commenting rules, but that is not an attack.

@kjg: The Vic gov are completely responsible for releasing the virus in the community which killed several hundred people. Then, to try to fix their mistakes locked up the entire state for months and caused immeasurable stresses and financial losses to the entire country. These are the facts.

                • @dddddog: Maybe someone with more knoweldge can fill us (or maybe just me) in; didn't these deaths occur mainly in aged care homes that come under federal responsibility?

                • -2

                  @dddddog:

                  These are the facts.

Careful. Dan and his supporters don't like facts, they just like to deflect them… Similar to Trump and his supporters.

Try posting a fact on Dan's facebook page and watch them all swoop on you like seagulls going for chips…
