Bargain Installation of BlackVue DR750X-2CH Dashcam

I am looking to buy BlackVue DR750X-2CH dashcam and get it installed. Since it needs to be hardwired for parking mode, I can't do it myself.

So far I have quotes of $180-$200 just for installation! Can you please suggest where I can get it installed for cheap around Western Sydney?

BTW I'm planning to buy from dashcamaustralia who have a promo - 64gb for $599.

This is actually a pretty standard price, unless you know someone or you don't mind a dodgy job.

I went to a more well-known place in Melbourne and paid $300. I wanted it done properly so didn't mind paying.

Also, you might want to look at getting the Power Magic box too. It's about $50 or so.

  • You could try airtasker but quality of the work will vary greatly. Otherwise, you could see if Bankstown Sound & Marine are still doing free installation of BlackVue but they are selling the 64GB model for $699 or $629 for the 32GB. You could always just put a micro-SD in if you need the extra storage.

..doing free installation of BlackVue but they are selling the 64GB model for $699

That's not "free" installation! They just added the cost to the price of the camera package! lol

      • Yes, which makes the installation $80-$100 cheaper than OP has been able to find it.

          $80-$100 cheaper

Is that what you call "free"?

Repco does regular 30% sales and there will probably be one in a couple of weeks.

          • @bobbified: It's $629 for 32GB at Repco too and the last time they had a 25% off everything deal it excluded Blackvue. By the way, the double storage deal isn't exclusive to Dashcams Australia either, it is a Blackvue Australia deal at "Participating Retailers" so it might be available at Bankstown anyway.

@donga100: My bad - I looked up the model with out the "X" before and I got in with my edit just before you were able to post your reply! lol :p

I'm not sure why BlackVue have such a huge price different on the memory. I got the cheapest one and bought a much larger capacity Samsung card (that's designed for these applications).

I had checked with the Bankstown Sound guys earlier today, they are not doing the free installation anymore. They asked $200 for it. I'll probably wait a couple of weeks if they get the offer back, otherwise will go with the dashcamsaustralia one.

      • Strathfield car radio at Concord did mine for $90 3 years back - the model before this

First time posting so forgive me if i replied in the wrong section, i used a mobile installer called that dashcam guy who did it for $699 at my home for the 2ch 32gb 750x. Very happy with the install looks flawless. hope this helps

Why are you scared to spend $10 on a multimeter to do it yourself? Hard wiring these things is easy. Just youtube it a few times then give it a go.

Thanks, I watched a few videos and will definitely give it a go myself. Will report back then. Cheers.

      • Good on you for giving it a crack. Mighty Car Mods might even have a decent video on doing it. Obviously it will differ slightly car to car but all you really need is to find the constant 12V somewhere.

        • Just check the vehicle manual for the fuse box to tap into. The Powermagic Pro and external batteries usually come with the adaptor (if not, just buy the adaptor if connecting directly and use the cigerette light adaptor)

      • Waiting for report…

  • I would do the hardwire myself, it is not hard (just check a DIY video and make sure you have a fuse box diagram for your car so you know which fuse you will be using). My past experience also makes me distrustful of hiring someone other than an autoelectrician for even simple installs like this.

As an aside, I would be cautious of just hardwiring for parking mode… Better to have a separate battery for it (I think Blackvue has a power magic?). It can be a drain on your car battery depending on how you use your car.

  • Installed one of these the other day. Incredibly easy and there is no need for a PMP anymore as the X series have inbuilt voltage monitoring. Do it yourself and save the $200, it's not hard at all to run the wires or find an always on fuse.

    • The thing I like with the PMP is the ability to turn off parking mode easily.

Not sure if the newer BlackVue's have some sort of function to easily turn off parking mode.

Dude just use a fuse tap. No splicing cables needed.

Then the next task will be removing/fitting trims without busting clips or the actual trims.

  • Bit late to the party but I just got a quote from a mobile installer that's partnered with Repco called "Install My". For the exact same 2CH dashcam installation, it was $170, they come to you and you can look at available dates all online.

  • First time posting so forgive the issues with semantics. It's not cheaper than OP but have been following Strathfield Car Radio @ Liverpool as I'm looking to get this installed… $599 for Blackvue DR750X 2-CH with free upgrade to 64GB. Matches dashcamaustralia. Deal ends 31/12/2020, just trying to get in before the New Year. Installation sitting at $180. They don't take bookings "just rock up" as per the guys on the phone. https://strathfieldcarradios.com.au/blackvue-dr750x-2-channeā€¦

$779 for that including install , rip off

      This is way better.

4K Front + 1080p FHD Rear , Free hardwired kit for parking mode recording (powered off your battery via the fuse taps) plus a 64GB SD card included with 18 months warranty once you register it. $399

The Blackvue DR750X 2-CH only records in standard full HD (1080p/FHD) , not even 2K let alone 4K compared to the Viofo 129 Pro Duo above

The quality you get for what you are paying for is night and day difference.

The only proper comparison you are going to get is with a Blackvue DR900 2 CH and they usually retail at $800+ RRP just for the camera not including installation.

Here look , @ Strathfield Car Radio , $842 for the same amount of kit not including install.

Better off paying half the price for the camera with the good specs and getting a qualified mechanic to install it for $100.

At the end of the day its your money so buy what you want but $500 compared to $1000+ for the same quality sounds better to me.

If you want a direct comparison , just watch this…speaks for itself , and thats just comparing the standard Viofo A129 (FHD/1080P) not the A129 Pro Duo which is 4k.

Appreciate the breakdown and comparison, always good to hear alternate perspective. Have had a relook and questioned why I was thinking BlackVue in the first place and there is no good answer. Found this doing some more research https://dashcamtalk.com/best-dash-cams-of-2020/ … will shop around, thanks for the help.

  • Free installation at Bankstown Sound and Marine is back on.https://www.bankstownsound.com.au/product/blackvue-dr750x-2ch/

  • Pay the money if you want a professional install.
I had the DR-900X installed recently professionally installed and paid about $200.
Worth every penny. I would have never been able to install the dash cam so cleanly.

  • Looking to get this dashcam too. Does anyone know in what situations hardwiring dashcams would void the car's electrical warranty?

    • +1

none if it is wired to the ignition with a fuse-tap , looks like this

or if it is hard-wired directly to the battery is fine also.

      • Thanks, that helps!
