BatteryWorld Vs Supercheap Auto for Buying Car Batteries

Hey guys,

What are your post-purchase experience dealing with BatteryWorld?

I am in the market for a new car battery. I have done my research on the battery model I am after: NS70LX.

BatteryWorld: https://www.batteryworld.com.au/NS70LX-MF-Yuasa-Power-Series…
Cost: $274

SCA: https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/century-century-ultra-hi…
Cost: $223 (normal price: $280)

I would prefer to go with BatteryWorld as they seem to be a dedicated store for batteries.
I asked if they could price match SCA, they answered yes and then abruptly hung up the phone before I could ask any further questions.

Have any of you had terrible experience with Battery World with regard to warranty claims or any other issues?

  • I'd just go with SCA, unless BatteryWorld were right next door…

You are asking the wrong question, you should be trying to work out which brand of battery is better

      Already done.
Yuasa and Century are the same company, and their batteries are made in Australia (at least the model that I am after is).

Well if they are the same battery, why are you asking which to buy? Just get the cheaper one.

Who care if Battery World are a store dedicated to batteries. They aren't making the battery in store.

          Thank you, Captain Obvious.

I am asking about post-sale customer experience if anyone here has dealt with either stores.
For example, if I need to make a warranty claim 2 years down the track, etc.

@DoctorCalculon: SuperCheap are good to deal with post-sale, at least that is my experience with them. All stores are owned by the Super Retail Group.

Whereas each Battery World is a franchise, so experiences will change for each store.

Personally I would go SuperCheap, many more stores around if the battery craps itself down the line. But both stores would probably have to send the battery back to Century/Yuasa to get it assessed for warranty.

That doesn't necessarily mean all of their products are identical.

I never said anything to that effect.

Let me clarify. The model NS70LX from Yuasa has the exact same spec and warranty as the Century NS70LX.
They are both allegedly made in Australia, although some older versions could be made in Korea.

Aside from the branding differences on the two batteries above, they are exactly the same product, no?

@DoctorCalculon: So you say you never said that, then go on to prove that is exactly what you meant. Genius.

In any case, I think it's a no brainer. Buy from SCA.

Where did I say ALL products of Yuasa and Century are identical?
Yes, the model NS70LX I have looked into have the exact specs across the two brands (which is what I stated above).

Whilst the converse is true, one product / model being identical does not impute that all of them are (which is what your takeaway seems to be, certainly not mine).

@DoctorCalculon: Keep your blouse on. You seem to have all the answers, so why bother us with this nonsense? Just put on your big boy pants and go to a store… any store. Nobody cares. Lol.

Personally I just get RACV to do it. Their prices are cheaper and they come to your place to install in driveway.

    • +4

Their prices are generally expensive but you get the convenience of installation wherever you are.

    • RACQ battery prices weren't cheap compared to SCA or BW

    • +3

On what planet are you living?
RACV battery prices are 20-50% higher in every single case.

They also use their "own" brand of battery in a lot of cases which are rebranded cheap batteries

Battery install is a few minutes job. SCA can prob do a install for you for a small extra cost, or free, depending on the store
