Fixing a Racing Wheel Stand (Telescopic Bracket & Nut Fastener)

Not sure if this is the right category, couldn't find one for DIY, apologies in advance.

I bought this racing wheel stand from eBay and while it wasn't the best quality, it was decent, notwithstanding the single issue/problem I have.

The stand has a "telescopic bracket" so you can adjust the height of the steering wheel. It's held into place by the force of a tightened bolt with a plastic cap into a hole with a nut fastener. The problem is, one of the nut fasteners (left side) broke off, so I can't tighten the bolt which would hold the bracket in place. I would normally assume these things are welded but it seems like it was just glued.

Please see images of the mentioned parts

I bought super glue specifically and left it to dry/cure for a little over 24 hours. It showed some promise but eventually broke off too.

What is the best way to fix this? Use metal epoxy? Would anyone have any better recommendations please?

Thank you and I'd appreciate the help.

Can't you just drill the hole straight through and put a bolt through it?

      This, or use a nutsert.

    Try JB Weld

  • I don't think the JB Weld would hold strong enough for that. It has it's applications but that surface area is just too small for good bite.

Drilling through would be the easiest if you have a drill. If you don't have a drill you can just get a G-Clamp and clam the inner bar and it'll hold. Would look ugly though lol. https://www.bunnings.com.au/trojan-50mm-g-clamp_p5860205
