Noise Cancelling Headphones Compatible with The PS5

Looking for a solid noise cancelling wireless headphone that can be used for both travel and have a microphone compatible for communication on the PS4/5

  • None, as far as I’m aware. Or at least not how you expect them to work.

Noise cancelling headphones use Bluetooth and/or direct 3.5mm audio jack. The PS5 does not output audio via Bluetooth. You can use it plugged directly into the controller to achieve audio +/- noise cancelling (but I believe most major ANC headphones still gave ANC when directly plugged in, so long as they’re powered on). As for microphone, I cannot comment on whether the microphones of the XM4’s or QC35’s work for game chat when connected this way.

I know the QC25's microphone worked intermittently on the 1st generation PS4 controllers after a bit of messing around but didn't work on the new controllers.

      Appreciate the response. Cheers.

If you dont want to use the controller's output jack, you can use audio output from HDMI instead. I know this probably too complex lol, but I'm running this setup for my PS4/5.

    1. HDMI to TOS

    2. Then use TOS to BT transmitter (whichever brand: Blitzwolf, Ugreen, etc)

    3. Your fav BT HP

    • Interesting setup, I have a few questions, hope you can answer.

      1) Why don't you go from PS4 connected USB BT transmitter -> BT HP?
      2) What codecs is used between BT transmitter and BP HP?
      3) What BT HP?
      4) Does your setup work with party/chat function?

        1) BT TX connected to PS4's USB port? I dont know if such device exist. Unless you meant by using PS4's TOS output?

        2) This would have to be dependent to what type BT & HP used. I'm using Blitzwolf BW-BR4 (TOS link/3.5 in/out to BT, no MIC function).

As per its manual, codec running in TX mode: aptxHD, aptxLL, aptx & SBC.
If in RX mode: AAC, aptxHD, aptxLL, aptx & SBC.

        3) No fancy HPs, I'm using HP wirelessly: Bose QC25 with BT adapter, a couple Taotronics stuff. Bugger if I know what are their codec, I'm not that fussy. :p
        Best always use wired HP.

        4) No, audio only. For chatting I can use my PS4 wireless HP. Rarely chat online anyway. Play/concentrate more, talk less.

The Anber-Tech device from link above only does audio conversion from HDMI to TOS (& analogue), so mic is not possible. You can also use the built in 3.5 stereo jack wired to HP but we warned, it has a problem. The polarity is reversed in mine, L & R channels are swapped.
I'd complained to the supplier, but no respond. I might have to make my own 3.5 jack adapter with reversed polarity to solve the problem. Otherwise it is a great 4K60 HDMI splitter.

  • Thanks for the in depth responses.

    1) USB Bluetooth Transmitter like [Creative BT-W3] (https://www.amazon.com.au/Creative-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Ind…)

    • Oh wow this is cool.

      Until I saw the price…

Thx. Will keep an eye on it for price drop, might try this.

Edit: after reading the reviews, it seems the mic requires compatible/specific HP or sort. As it is USB C this would be perfect with PS5.

  • There are similar products that are cheaper if you search PS4 bluetooth transmitter. But yea this one is a bit steep.
