New Dell XPS 17 - Paint Blemishes on Lid - Commonplace/Acceptable?

Just received and unpacked an XPS 17 purchase during the Black Friday sales and the lid is covered in small paint imperfections - small pockmarks and what looks like a couple of fine hairs caught in the paint.

Is this commonplace for Dell QC? Is this acceptable nowadays?

  • Dell QC is attrocious. I bought an XPS once and returned it as it had multiple defects and did not feel worth the price at all.

  • In the thousands of Dells I've taken delivery of I've had numerous issues but I've never had a cosmetic fault so no, it's neither common or acceptable IMO.

  • I bought an XPS17 right before FY end and the exterior was immaculate, I’d raise it with Dell.

  • I got my xps 15 built to order and delivered yesterday and it has a dent on the body close to the hinge which is very obvious as it is silver dent on a black carbon fibre keyboard. Looks like it wasn't assembled with care.

Dell say I have to either return it and wait for a replacement or they can send someone out to repair it.

All this after returning an Inspiron 15 a few weeks ago because of mouse lag/stutter that no one could fix. Friends have all warned me against Dell, I'm starting to see why now :(
