Great Customer Service Experience with Centre Com

I've seen some mixed reviews about Centre Com online so thought I'd share a recent positive experience I've had with Centre Com's customer service.

When purchasing a laptop during the recent Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals, I used PayPal for my payment method and the transaction should have been processed using my credit card - but it wasn't. We use our credit cards for larger sized purchases for the purchase protection insurances and extended warranty, and in this case the warranty was important for me to ensure that if something happens to the device in a few years we are still covered (regardless of ACCC laws).

Initially I tried to contact PayPal since they were the ones that had processed using the wrong account (I know for sure I selected my credit card as I triple checked this before confirming the purchase), however their automated system immediately referred the issue to Centre Com - so I got in contact with Centre Com customer service directly instead and explained what had happened and asked if they would mind re-processing the transaction. I got a response pretty quickly telling me that they were happy to do that and created a new payment portal for me to reprocess using my credit card directly and then refunded the PayPal transaction.

I really think Centre Com went above and beyond in this instance as they did not have to do anything at all since it was not their fault, but they did and I'm grateful for the effort.

Good to hear a positive customer service post compared to the usual financial advice/MS paint accident/OzBraggin' posts that usually pop up here

  • They're doing sales to seal your deal, of course they're going to fix it

the warranty was important for me to ensure that if something happens to the device in a few years we are still covered

Yeah come back to us on Centrecom when something does happen, you'll see…

Not being harsh on Centrecom, it's the same with almost every computer store. So the bar is low enough Centrecom ironically is one of the better ones.

That's the point, they weren't "sealing the deal" though, they already had my money and could just have easily said "no sorry". It's likely refunding the transaction might have cost them a slight fee too, not to mention the extra time.

I have a feeling that many of the online posts regarding poor customer service (in general, not necessarily for Centre Com) are from "Karens" (or maybe Craigs) who don't know how to be respectful and polite and resort immediately to "you're wrong I'm right".

What's your story with regards to their customer service?

I had a problem with a purchase recently, and I must say, Centrecom did go the extra mile to resolve the issue
