Is 6 to 8 Weeks for a Credit Dispute to Be Resolved Acceptable?

Had a unorthorised transsction occur on my credit card. Called bank straight away. CS said it would tske 6 to 8 weeks to investigate. The transaction is still on the account. Also had int fee charged due to this fraudulent card use and then over the limit charge. Both of those were credited back straight away.

Heard other bank charged back straight away.

Anyone know of a good credit card with good securuty.

  • Anyone know of a good credit card with good securuty.

What security do you think is lacking with your current credit card provider?

    • A large international transaction was made on my card and I would have thought the bank may question that. When I called them the CS guy said there was also some minor small attempts through google pay that occured on the same day. The thing is the CS guy sounded like thess issues were very common. I had ti answer about 5 Qs to have it checkout.

  • Very acceptable I was expecting longer.

        No I don’t know.

  • Given your bank is doing the work to request information from the merchant I think it's pretty reasonable.

I'm sure there's an agreement between banks and merchants to allow the merchants time to prove the legitimacy of the transaction.

  • 28 degrees is asking me to wait 21 days for a fraud team rep to contact me. So I assume in 3 weeks I’ll have some resolution on my similar issue.

  • You'll likely get the money back eventually, although they might cancel your card.

    Overall it's a minor inconvenience.

    No bank has foolproof security.

    • Card is cancelled as that was suggested at time of notifucation to the bank. Makes sense.

    Is it acceptable? Debatable.

    Is it standard? Yes, absolutely.

Westpac cancelled my card, issued a new one, and had refunded my money in just over a week after 2 unauthorised transactions were made on it recently.

I was surprised how fast it happened, expected 2 -3 weeks minimum.

Is it a BOQ, Virgin or Citi card?
They are totally useless at dealing with fraudulent transactions.

    • I can C one of those being the 1

  • i've been disputing a wespac transaction since january, they just email me every few weeks saying they are investigating. i said i would contact the ombudsman if they didn't reimburse me "by the end of the week" about 6 months ago, which they did. but still get the investigating emails

  • What bank?

We filed a chargeback on a Friday before lunch and the money was back on the card on Monday morning.

    • Who was that with? And what card?
