https://ibb.co/R7sNp4N

Hi guys, what happen? Is it leaking from the toilet to the flooring? I have been smelling some faint rotting wood smell from the toilet area recently so i went down to the house to have a look. What can i do now? Should i stop using the toilet for now unless a plumber come in? Thank you.

Yeah but i reckon if you can do some basic troubleshooting first otherwise you will be ripped off. Just saying.

There's honestly no way for us to troubleshoot your toilet through the magic of the internet. Turn off the water connection, empty the cistern, call a qualified plumber.

    • Good point to turn off the water point.

You could probably do a test poop before calling a plumber if you really wanted. Are you a betting man?

    • Yeah did that actually for myself before I climbed under the house but nah, it is likely fresh water leaking.

Turn it off and turn it back on

is your cistern bolted down onto the bowl? it's probably loose and allowing water to leak

just keep using it until shit leaks out

    • Or as shitty as you mate

Yes. It’s leaking from the loo to the floor. Part two of your investigation is where is the water coming from? Flush it, without using it first, then feel around for the wet spot. That’ll help determine which bit is leaking, could be several different parts. Inlet pipe, cistern to base connection, overflow from cistern, pan collar.

    • Its tile flooring and underneath it should be the wooden flooring. I don’t see any water leakage on the tile itself must have seep through underneath somehow. I reckon either the base of toilet has cracked or the seal connecting the base to the sewage has gaps. Either situation will need to take the toilet out. I have already stopped using it and hoping it will at least dry out.
Its hard to get plumbers now considering Christmas and year end period. Thought of removing it myself but not very experience at it.

We had one with a similar leak a while ago. It was the rubber seal between the pan and the waste piping (toilet outlet). Couldn’t see or feel the leak anywhere but found water seeping out between the pan and the tiles. Only way to fix it was taking the pan off the floor to manoeuvre in a new collar.

vegetable dye may help you identify the location of the leak.

Dye in the pan first, one flush then dye again, observe and wait…

Colour dye leak, pan to outlet seal. Clear leak = cistern

Clear water in pan, dye in cistern (don't flush), observe and wait…

Colour dye leak, cistern. Clear leak = pan
