  • Does anyone use nexgard? There's a lot of really quite frightening reports online of the effects it has had on people's puppers.

There are frightening reports for almost every medication out there. We use it as it's recommended by our vet and we trust their guidance. You don't have to use it - just sharing the deal in case anyone else is interested. You'll note that other brands are also included in the sale.

Easy, I wasn't having a go - I was only asking for experiences. You'll note I up voted your post before making my comment.

All good - I was just answering your question :)

      • I've only ever used Nexgard without any issues. Nowadays I only give my dog the treatment once ever 2 months.

    • From my research Nexgard had lower chance of issues over other options like Bravecto. I choose nexgard not because its cheapest or anything but due to what i've found health wise… even better would be nothing but i dont chance it based on living in QLD.

    • My dog outright refuses to touch the Nexgard Spectra, also while using it the vet told me he had flea dust not knowing I was giving him flea tablets (He was also due for his next month of the chewable in a few days, so it was more than likely that).
I've started using The Big 5 and I'm not sure if it's more effective, but he definitely chews those tablets down pretty easy most of the time, that being said, I had no major issues at all with Nexgard Spectra, so in all honesty, whichever your dog likes the most and doesn't refuse to eat! haha
The big 5 is 2 separate tablets, one is Inceptor and the other is Credelin, but works out cheaper iirc.
      It's a shame it's not a part of this sale :(.

      • My puppy finally (after two months / two doses) chewed the white one (we’ll see how he goes tomorrow when he’s due) but he’ll refuse to chew the brown one! I’ve laced it in yoghurt, peanut butter… but nothing. I’ve only resorted to cutting the brown ones to hide with his meals - sometimes he leaves them in the bowl though. I’m going to give him a chunk of peanut butter tomorrow instead and see.

Wish he would just take them like all the other dogs lol.

    • My dog's been on Nexgard Spectra for over a year and she's fine. She doesn't care for the taste though, so I have to mash it and hide it in food.

    • I’ve used NexGard on our little dogs for over 3 years and haven’t had any issues. About 10 years ago we had a dog that developed seizures from the active ingredient in one of the liquid flea treatments (can’t remember which one). The same dog went on to tolerate NexGard fine.

I wonder whether they’ve changed the recipe though. Our dogs used to love it and suddenly they hated it. My friends dog did the same thing around the same time.

  • Looks like sentinel spectrum is somewhat cheaper over at petcircle https://www.petcircle.com.au/product/sentinel-spectrum-chews…

  • CR has 5.6% CB on NexGard Spectra

  • NOPE - Amazon regular price is cheaper than these “heavily discounted” prices (checked for sentinel and Advocate)

  • Thanks. The spectra was cheaper than budget pets/ Amazon etc

Reminded me that I need more, but even this discounted price isn't the cheapest with a quick Google search.

Also, its fine (otherwise they probably couldn't sell it yo the public…) - of course there will be anecdotal cases where things have happened. People are so weird about their animals.
