Help Me Find 15m HDMI Cable Capable of 4k@60 HDR 10bit

Hi everyone,

There are many cables that claim they can do 4k@60 HDR 10bit but I'd love to see who here has actually tested some and work to their specs?

I can see some on Amazon between $70-$90 shipped. I'd be very happy with that price if they actually work.

I currently have gtx 1080 but looking for 3070

Thank you

    4k@60 HDR 120fps

    What!?

    • haha, yeah I noticed the mistake and fixed it

      • @60 means it's 60fps.

        I'm using this.

I don't recommend running hdmi over 5 meters long. Perhaps an hdmi signal booster device might helps.

Edit: just saw your 10bit edit.

        Edit2: tested with PS5 in 4K60 HDR.

        • Thank you but I need a 15m run because I'd like to play my pc games in the theatre room.

If there are other options I'm all ears. But signal boosters are more trouble than they're worth, introducing lag and have to have a middle point or 2 to plug into power.

I've even tried steam link but I'd be lucky to get 720p on that thing

  • I've never noticed a difference with HDMI, other than the cables either work or they don't. The transition to HDMI 2.0 did not change the cable layout, so older cables are still compliant. HDMI 2.1 does require new cables though, but all the ones you linked are the older 2.0 format (18Gbps)

Okay— so after your edit you're after older cables so I definitely would not waste money on an expensive one.

  • +1

Anything over 5m then you're at high risk of signal degradation.

15m means your best bet is an active fibre cable - but they're expensive

You could try these passive ones

Or this fibre one for $200

    • They're good but now I'm contemplating between getting an active fibre cable or getting the HDMI over ethernet extenders like the ones below

  • Some HD Base-T units can send HDMI over CAT 6 at 4K@60 to 70m according to specs. (e.g. https://www.siig.com/4k-hdr-hdmi-2-0-usb-2-0-extender-over-h…). But they are more expensive than $70-90 but should do what you want to do.

I use one for 1080p@60 PC gaming, sending my PC from a games room to the front lounge room, about 50m of cable. The unit I have also sends USB over the CAT 6. No issue with lag that I can detect.

    • Yeah I've seen some of the HDMI Over Ethernet extenders and they're very tempting.
https://www.auselectronicsdirect.com.au/4k-hdmi-2.0-18gbps-u… (What would be the difference between the one I linked and the one you linked?) It's about double the price

At least it'll be easier to replace faulty hdmi cables without the added cost of long lengths WHEN they do stuff up in the future

But if I get this, will be able to get away with using normal HDMI cables without running fibre optical cables?

      • I got mine from eBay US and was nowhere near the RRP. The unit I posted is the one I use, it passes through USB too which is handy for me as I'm transmitting to the other side of the house. I'm guessing your 15m scenario is around walls so actual distance for wireless controllers is far less so the USB pathetic may not be a requirement for you.

I use cheap HDMI cables with mine.. no probs at 1080p.

  • I have this one and works like a charm!!

Tried 2 cables before this one but no luck. This one is great. I am running Nvidia sheild and PS4pro to my projector and I get HDR..
