For anyone looking to get into this for the first time though, who doesn't have a background in these sorts of games, I'd suggest picking up Jaws of the Lion, the newest entry in the Gloomhaven series. It's much cheaper, as it's smaller and comes with less, but it's been designed to ease people into the game mechanics which can be overwhelming to newcomers.

Is "Gloomhaven digital on steam" this adaptation or is it some free/paid add-on to TTS? I'm confused about how people play it online after some googling. Ta.
I also see mentions of Vassal version (free alternative to Tabletop Simulator/TTS?), but also praise on how TTS works. And some people just play remotely using different tools, incl. https://www.gloomhaven-deck.com/.
