[NSW] Vornado 660 Air Circulator $167.99 @ Costco Lidcombe (Membership Required)

90

First time post

Vornado 660 Air Circulator $167.99 at Costco Lidcombe. Not sure other stores. I haven't figured out where to check the color code without opening the package. The demo item in store is in black, but the one I got is white. So I assume both colors are availble.

This item in both color is Out of Stock at Costco online store.

I would suggest checking Harvey norman to see them in action. I forget the model number but the smaller one is really loud when you take it home (can't hear in the store). A cheap Kmart fan is whisper quiet comparatively. The bigger one may fair better for noise.

This is not a "Fan" like your Kmart ones, it is an air circulator. Different things altogether.

Yes they are loud when on full blast compared to a fan but very good for circulating air around the room by placing it in one corner and pointing it up to the far side of the room diagonal corner towards the roof. The idea is to balance out the room temp.
I dont think there is such a thing as a quiet fan that pushs a lot of air as it's the blades that make the noise. Even those large Dyson or even small fans are loud when running full whack.

Vornados are a tad over priced though for what they are however are well built and come with 5 year warranty.

I think you missed the point. It is so loud that putting it at the other end of the living room, you can hear it in its lowest setting. I think people are smart enough not to compare it at with full blast. Last year, they were heavily discounting that model (guessing not selling well for the price even though the summer craze demand). Again, the bigger one from reviews I checked last year didn't have that problem. Only the smaller one and don't know OP post version.

        • 660 is the largest model.
I don't think any air circulator can be as quieter as normal fan. Just overheard this brand is the quietest in this catigory.
          Will see.

    Over glorified FAN.

    • Under detailed comment, negged, it's not advertised by the company as a "fan"

I'd be inclined to get the DC version - reputed to be cheaper to run on lower speeds and way more control over speed - have this exact one (corrected on edit - have the "medium" 633, this is the large 660 and there is no 660DC as far as I know) and a small one that is DC.

get Xiaomi Standing Fan. it is rechargeable and you can carry anywhere without worrying about cables and power. It gives you 20hours in a single charge.
Kogan usually put these on discount from time to time.

I purchased my fan a few months ago and very happy about it. super quiet and you can connect the fan with your google home.

These Vornado or Dyson fans are super fancy and expensive but do the same job with a little bit of extra.

For those with Good Guys Commercial access, these are $160 there with click& collect options around the country.

    • How does one get this? Can't find any info. Is it for business owners, or some other thing?

I use a Vornado for Zwift virtual inside cycling on a smart plug and it does an awesome job, super happy with mine compared to a standard pedestal fan I had before.

  • This is loud, but if you have a large open space where a fan won't cut it, this is good. You can feel the wind without needing to have this aimed at you instead of waiting for the fan to blow in your direction

  • Don't think this is a good idea for the pandemic we are in now.

  • How this compare with dyson am09?

    • It's not the same thing so can't be compared. One is a fan the other a air circulator.
This is much more powerful compared to any Dyson but directs the air rather than a wide angle fan. I sometimes turn this on full to push air down a corridor and works well being directional. Its not a fan one sits in front of although you could but just buy a $20 for that.

  • Haven't been a member for a few yrs. Is the online store always different stock to in-store?
We've moved a bit far about 1hr away so we didn't renew. But we might if it did online.

    • At the time I checked, online store is out of stock and the price is higher.
