Soundbar Recommendations ~ $500

Any recommendations for a decent soundbar to go with my 55" TV? My budget is around $500. I'm looking at the sonos beam but not sure if that is the best choice with all the boxing day deals going on atm.

Thanks

You can get a used proper surround sound system incl receiver for less than that much. A 5.1/7.1 setup is miles better than any soundbar. That would be my recommendation.

Not everyone has the room/need for a proper 5.1 or 7.1 setup. A lot of people want a minimal simple plug and play soundbar without their living room looking like a multimedia or cinema room. How do you know OP doesnt live in a small apartment or they want it for their bedroom TV?

I dont really understand why people offer this advice for people specifically wanting a soundbar. Its like someone wanting advice on what Scooter/Moped to buy and someone coming in saying dont bother getting one, get a Harley-Davidson instead. Its literally not what they are asking for or about.

  • I’ve gone from a decent $4K 5.1 system to a Beam + Sub. Love it.

    • Is this the sonos sub?

      • Yes Sonos sub.

  • +1

After Black Friday I tested out the Sonos beam and the Yamaha ATS 2090/Yas 209 and decided on the Yamaha. It includes a Sub while the Sonos doesn't and so suited my needs better, although I think the beam + it's sub would be a better system, but also 3x the price. The Yamaha is a little cheaper than the Beam too.

  • We just purchased HT-X8500 2.1ch Dolby Atmos / DTS:X Single Soundbar with built-in subwoofer, the reason being as I heard that the Dolby Atmos was great sound qty and we wanted the least expensive one. got it for 499.

still waiting for a ship date

    • Wow, $500 on a paltry 2.1 setup with simulated Atmos. You did not purchase well.

      • OK, Hot shot show me what or where I could do better under 500???

        • This unit not only has an extra speaker but a proper wireless subwoofer unit to make it 3.1 audio. It's also 376W vs the Sony's weak 200W.

Both have fake simulated Atmos as they do not have dedicated upfiring speakers.

There's plenty more if you do some research.

You can also look at the used market and get a proper 5.1 surround setup in great condition for $200.

          • @Hybroid: Panasonic is not bad but I do not have space for a separate sub the other one is over 500 and it too has a separate sub.
I think 🤔 I made a good choice and the best one for me. Thanks for trying. I did google for days and most that were better were way over $500 which was beyond my limit.
