Best Tips and Tricks for Booking Flights Last Minute Domestically

Hi all,

After so many failed 2020 trips I am trying to book another for January 2021

As it's quite soon I'm looking for tips/tricks for sourcing cheaper flights that maybe I'm unaware of

  • Jetstar has price hiked too much to be considered
  • Virgin only has good availability if booking return, however I have already booked one leg MEL > ADL and when looking at one way flights the options with rewards points I am after disappear…
  • Qantas points required are ridiculous

Anything else - should I wait for Virgin's happy hour sales and pray my dates are included? Booking not directly with the airlines? Some deals I'm not aware of? Suck it up and pay full price whilst waiting for Jetstar to issue my travel voucher for my failed Sydney trip? lol

I'm just looking to save money on the way home ;)

I did reach out to people who might be driving, however I've discovered the Overland train which is cheaper than all the flights which looks interesting.

      • Be aware bookings fill-up quickly on The Overland and it is a Daylight service ex Adelaide Parklands Terminal Adelaide Parkland Terminal, Richmond Rd, Keswick to Southern Cross.

Ironic that you can earn Qantas points on a Train journey.

        • Thanks for the heads up, so hard to find info on the actual website!!

The Qantas points thing is new
