Optus $20 Data Roaming Pack

Have you guys ever tried to use the Optus $20 data roaming pack? It seems quite good, comes with 10GB of data for Mainland China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, UK and USA and valid for 14 days. And its stackable as well, so you can get 2 x $20 data roaming packs and it will give you 20GB of data over 28 days.

I'm travelling overseas soon and decided to get this with two of these packs so it stacks and be valid over 28 days. What a nightmare!

The Optus app has no obviously way to add this. I clicked on Add on, keyed in my recharge voucher for $40 and the credit went straight to the main balance, there was no option for me to select it to go towards the $20 data roaming pack.

So I thought it'd be quick to get support to resolve this, just do it manually at their end. WRONG!

The first support guy had not idea what I was talking about, I had to link him to the offer. In the end he just put $20 in my "Extra credit" balance, which isn't the same as the $20 data roaming pack because I'd be charged much much higher rates, it would equate to less than 100MB of data on roaming.

The second support guy is telling me because they have already credited me $20 in my "extra credit" balance, they can't add the pack on again. Well, first of all, they never added the pack on in the first place, so its not "again".

I feel like I'm getting the run around. Anyone else had a similar experience with using this Optus offer?

Doesn't seem to be a 'pack' to enabled as asuch from the website it says

The $20 Data Roaming add on gives you $210 value equivalent to 10GB data to use in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, UK and USA. Data is charged at $0.02/MB. Expires in 14 days.

So you should have gotten $210 credit?

    • Correct, when applied correctly, you pay $20 and they give you $210 credit for data which costs 2 cents per MB. It was a nightmare to enable.
