Kogan 34" WQHD 1000R 144hz FreeSync HDR Gaming Monitor (3440x 1440) $529 + Shipping

Just saw this today, it's different than the one on sale on Boxing Day, which had the same 1500R curve as the Xiaomi one.
Compared to the Xiaomi 34" display, this one is also Samsung VA panel, has the same peak brightness (300cd/m2) but with extra HDR support, better curve (1000R Vs 1500R), back panel RGB lighting, builtin speakers, better controls (single stick control, Samsung style).
Only draw back is slightly worse response time (4ms vs 7ms) and one less HDMI 2.0 port, but who uses HDMI 2.0 on a 144Hz monitor anyway.

Wow this is basically rebranded Odyssey G5 34”. It’s not sold in Australia but MSRP is $599 USD.

    • Nah there are a lot of difference. I don't think they are of the same origin.
But hey, $529 with free shipping if you can put up with that trial, 14 day change of mind return, I'd say it's good enough.

  • 7ms vs 4ms is a big difference though.

    • You can't perceive 3ms difference.

      • Well, somewhat he has a point, considering in 144Hz, each frame gets displayed only 6.9ms on the screen before it's replaced by the next.
7ms means you are always one frame late.
But whether one can perceive this, is up to debate.

The advertised response times are largely fictional. Both are going to be a lot more than 4/7 ms. Which means the Kogan really isn't a 144 hz panel and the Xiaomi may or may not be.

Latency and refresh rate are not the same thing though, could still be 144hz

          • @Agret: I know. It will most definitely be 144hz, but it won't be a "true 144 hz" display due to the high latency times.
