Coles Prepaid Mastercard PayPal Purchase Declined

Anyone with recent experience using these cards for online purchases?

I tried to use this through PayPal but I kept on getting declined. The error message is to check the card's balance but that's not an issue.

PayPal were able to make an authorisation charge which I confirmed with the issued code.

I don't think my account is limited because I was able to complete my purchase using a bank issued card.

Is it possible for a seller to choose to decline prepaid credit cards through PayPal? I'm trying to figure out what could be the cause of this.

  You can't use prepaid Visa/Mastercard for PayPal because they need to verify and match your details with the card. Prepaid cards are technically 'ownerless'.
  These cards are perfect for payment where they don't ask too many personal details, e.g. PostBillPay.
  I use these cards for groceries, petrol, and paying utility bills.

    You can use it with most merchants. Just used a $500 prepaid VISA card (from Zip deal) to pay to Tyroola via PayPal.

    The merchant decides whether it takes unverified card or not. If not, PayPal simply charges it from your 1st backup funding source.

    Prepaid Visa has been fine for me using Paypal.

    There are many more reasons why OP is experiencing difficulties.

      The last time I used a Coles prepaid MC through Pypal was last year.

      My most recent prepaid CC purchase (last month) through Paypal was using a Visa. In this case, the online retailer wouldn't process/declined the Visa but payment was accepted using the same prepaid Visa when made through Paypal.

  A few merchants may require verified cards in your PayPal, but not the majority. I know Amaysim is one of them. Prepaid cards are not verified.

  I also use these for utility bills direct on the providers website. Where I can use PostBillpay I use that as it allows payment by Amex which gives me double the points of my Mastercard. I also use these for health providers who only accept Mastercard or Visa.
