Which Site Do You Use for Your Laptop Research? (Budget $1000)

Which site do you use for your laptop research?

I've got an elderly customer, pensioner, and they need to replace an old Toshiba laptop. Budget is about a thousand bucks.

Good value for money
Doesn't have to be the latest model
13-14 inch display (as thin a bevel as possible)
Extremely portable (ie light and long battery life)
Not a "Chinese" brand (Japanese ok. Taiwanese, I'd have to ask)

Any suggestions on a site or a laptop?

Which site do you use for your laptop research?

    OzBargain for price research.

    • Same!

But to find the spec you are looking for? Going through old threads I can see someone mentioned notebookcheck.net

  • Acer Swift 3 fits the bill (although Acer is Taiwanese I think)

  • I highly recommend the Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 2 AMD which can be found for ~$850 on sale which is a light, powerful, reliable, and long lasting 14" notebook, but unfortunately the "Lenovo" computer division is Chinese owned. Any chance you can let that slip?

Otherwise its just Dell or HP is what I'd recommend, I tend to stay away from Asus and Acer as they have lack of security firmware updates.

    • I'll have another word with him, let him know it's really hard to get something that isn't made in China these days. Thanks for the suggestions.
