Soft Close Toilet Seat Cylinders

Soft Close Toilet seat no longer closes without the lid slamming down. I have done a search both here and online for place that sells replacement cylinders/dampers without any luck.

Seems like a common problem and only solution is to buy a whole new seat. For a bit of moulded plastic these are way over priced.

Where have you got yours?

  • What brand was the seat?

    • It’s a Stylus Banksia. About 2years old now.
On suite toilet so does not get as much use as the main toilet.

    • It’s a pretty cheap toilet, I’d contact Caroma and ask if they can send you some hinges, even if you have to pay $50, at least that way, you won’t wake anyone from the ensuite.

  • +1

When this happened to our toilet seat, I rang the company that made it to ask them this very question. They immediately just said they would send me a whole new seat for free - which they did. The new seat has been fine. Maybe try ringing the company?

    • Thanks. But yeah don’t even know where to start since it didn’t buy it direct from them. Reading online these type of seats fail after 1-2years use. Looks like a sign to regularly replace them…bet you they’ll say it’s for hygienic reasons…

He contacted the company that made them ie manufacturer , not bought them from…

    You can try here:

This is unlikely to be the specific one you need, but poke around their site.

    • for the price of that hinge, you could buy 2 soft close toilet seats!

  • We have two different types and they are both adjustable, from memory with a smallish allen key.
