Add to this the possibility

Price match at Myer then use Myer giftcards that you got 10% off, plus GST refund = around the 30% mark

  yes mate, exactly what I was trying to do..
  I see $1399 for an IMAC everywhere. Was gonna get 3 x $500 myer gift cards and get them to price match.
  + the refund.
  If anyone is doing 10% off, I can get it for approx $1020.
  This is for my nephew, not me.

    Yes i believe it should.
    
    Receipt should show payment approx (in my case) $1259.10 (if I get 10% off $1399).
    It will say paid for by gift card, but it would show $1259.10 on official tax receipt.
    I should then get 10% tax back = $114.46
