Reset Microsoft Surface Laptop Administrator Password

My son reset his Microsoft Surface laptop (he bought a new one) and now it’s wanting the Administrator password. I’m trying to set it up for myself. Can anyone offer suggestions to get it working again?
Thank you

  • I have heard of many people waste hours and hours trying to find a solution only for there to not be an administrator password.

Just check that when you leave it blank and click next it does come up with incorrect password…

Edit: Next step would be to ensure when 'reset this pc' was run it removed your son's account, otherwise it might still be looking for his login

    • I tried that but it come up with The password is incorrect. Try again.

Download the windows 10 ISO (windows media creation tool) and install it onto a USB stick.
Boot into the USB and there should be an option to repair windows or something like that. Use the command line to reset the administrator password.

  • I'd just just reload the operating system. Step by step is here https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/creating-and-usi…

  • I've used a live Linux OS booted from USB to reset the administrator password on PC's before.

  • Download and flash the Surface recovery image: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/surfacerecoveryimage

This will totally clear anything except BIOS passwords.

  • When my 'customers' forget their passwords to their laptop, or PC
I use a program called Active@ Password Changer Professional,
it is also in an OS called Active@ Boot Disk
You just boot up and then change the password, very easy.
Before that, I used to use a program called Kon-boot
    I hope this helps
