Hi, My Amazon prime membership is due for renewal shortly.
Does anyone know any way of getting a discount on the annual $59 quoted?
Cheers,
Gary.

after going from next day delievery, to 5-7 day delivery with free shipping over $40. Yeah amazon really know how to get you.

Never having to go to the post office or check up on deliverys from ebay is well worth it.

      • Huh? Amazon is almost always next day delivery for me now they've started their own logistics. I even go a delivery today (Sunday). Wont be long and they will probably start offering same day delivery. They just keep getting better. I love Prime, find incredible deals on there all the time and it's at my door in no time at all. Love it.

      • Are you sure you're using Amazon Prime?

Ordered two items yesterday (Saturday). Both delivered today (Sunday).

Amazon don't have good deals as they used to be. Boxing day was a flop. Unless you want to get items 50c cheaper with excessive packing home delivered. Well I can't find things I want any cheaper.

      • I bought some stuff, bought coke etc but yeh boxing day was a flop for me too.

Idk I'd buy it for the videos and twitch stuff though.

Last year amex had a credit that covered it.
This year there was a partial amex credit, but targeted.

    • There were Amex 50% discounts the past 2 years. Manged to get one each year on different cards but haven't seen or heard of anything this year. Even at full price I easily get $59 of value from it via free delivers and Prime video.

My recommendation: let it lapse. With free shipping, you always find something to buy, but do you really need it? Also buying a lot of small things is a very unsustainable lifestyle - for the planet, for your lack of movement, for your savings, etc.

I really smashed the over $49 for international delivery in the first few months (when Amazon Au was limited) but rarely now. I might let it lapse - I have made a couple of low value purchases, but agree it is a wasteful way to deliver a jar of peanut butter or whatever.

  • I'm not aware of any straight up discounts, but Amazon was previously pretty good at extending the Prime coverage period when they don't meet delivery time frames. Haven't tried since COVID, but in the past it meant I got 15-18 months for the price of 12.

  • Have you considered Sharing an account with a close friend or 4? Could be as little as $15 a year each lol
