Will Apply a Business Credit Card Affect My Personal Credit Score?

Wondering if I apply a business credit card through work will this affect my credit score, my credit score right now is in good range, I'd like to keep it untouched for a while.
Thanks in advance.

It depends (the universal answer, hey).

There are different types of business credit cards and most of them will actually affect your credit score because a bank will assess your assets and will have you as a guarantor. However, some banks (in my experience it was NAB) don't do that and even for a simple business credit card assess only the business (e.g. the company) finances.

You can understand that based on a credit card application process, if a bank starts asking questions about your personal finances - then there is a good chance that your personal credit score will be affected.

    • Thanks for it

  • You should probably ask the credit provider for the most accurate answer.

    • Thanks, I doubt can get an accurate answer.

      • You can ask if they do a credit check on you vs does it affect your score.

This is not that unique of a case so I feel they will give you straight answer.

I applied for corporate CC to use for company expenses before. It did not show up on my record (but does not mean they didn't do a credit check on me).

It would be interesting to find out if there is a credit score for business entity. The loan itself may have a rating (e.g. S&P AA)
