  • Does the 4K 60hz work with other devices connected to the dock at the same time?

In my understanding the 4k60hz works by itself but requires TB3 for it to work concurrently while providing bandwidth to other devices…

    • +1

      Hello,

      Thanks for your message.

It depends on what you had connected to the Dock at the same time.

I think there are enough lanes to supports 4K 60hz HDR, because this adapter used DisplayPort 1.4 protocol.

If your hosts, such as M1 MacBook Air, M1 MacBook Pro, or M1 Mac Mini, or other Intel chipset Mac supprots DisplayPort 1.4, Thunderbolt4,

this hub can meet your requirements.

      Thanks very much

      • Some USB-C ports support DP AltMode but not necessarily Thunderbolt 3 though…

        • Correct! Some laptops does not support higher DisplayPort version.

  • Will this work on my chromebook too? Need to connect to external monitor/TV

    • If you use this hub, you can get the external monitor/TV,

however because of the DisplayPort version, we could not guarantee the 4K 60hz or the HDR function.

      Kind regards

      Thanks very much

      • I have Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 2-in-1 Chromebook to be precise

After checking the specification about your Chromebook, I predict that this Dockteck DT0007 can meet your requirements

It can make you get the external display, however for the 4K 60hz, HDR function, I think your Chromebook did not support.

And another issue, since your Chromebook was using a 10 Watt power adapter, if you just used this hub, and your power adapter probably could not offer

sufficient power for the hub and your chromebook's requirements.

          Good luck.

          Kind regards,

          Logan

          • @Loganfence: No, HDMI on this dock will not work properly with the chromebook duet on most monitors. It may work on some TVs.

The duet can only do FHD ("1080p") at 30Hz which most monitors can not display (FHD TVs might work). It can do HD ("720p") at 60Hz but that would look awful on a monitor.

            • @grb: Could you please share a video about this?
I checked the specification of Duet, and found that the laptop just used a USB 2.0 protocol, the laptop probably could not offer sufficient lanes to get higher resolution and refresh rate.

              • @Loganfence: Sorry for the late reply. Yes it is the hardware in the Duet limiting the resolution and refresh rate. I think the DP multiplexer can only supply a lane or two of DP 1.1 or 1.2.

Robby at chromeunboxed has written a few articles about it, in the most recent article he suggested DisplayLink as the best (or only) option for most monitors:
                https://chromeunboxed.com/lenovo-chromebook-duet-display-out…

                • @grb: Hello,

Thanks for your reply. After reading the articles you offered, and it seems that Displaylink adapter can also work with your Chromebook Duet.

DisplayLink chipset can offer drivers about the Chromebook Duet, and it probably make you get the higher resolution at the moment.

If you are curious about Dockteck's hub function, you can feel free to purchase one to have a try.

                  Kind regards,

                  Logan

                  • @Loganfence: No, the DisplayLink adapter will not "also" work. It is the ONLY type of adapter which will work with regular monitors on the Duet.

The advice you have given that your hub will work with a Duet is incorrect.

                    • @grb: Hello Grb,

                      Thanks for your reply.

I could not be agree with you at this point.

Because after reading the specification about Duet.

                      https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/student-chromebo…

We can get that the USB-C used USB-C Gen2 protocol, and after reading the PDF file Lenovo offered,

This is the information I get from Lenovo official.

(support OTG, data transfer, Power Delivery, and DisplayPort™)

We can get that the USB-C port of the Duet supports DisplayPort.

That's the reason I predict that Dockteck can work with the Duet from the theory.

If you trust us, and if you are in Australia, and if you have the Duet laptop, just feel free to purchase, if it does not work,

we can take in charge of it.

                      Kind regards,

                      Logan

    • No this will not work. The Duet technically supports video output but it's too slow to run most normal monitors.

Your best option is one of those USB "DisplayLink" adaptors which have been on clearance from Officeworks recently.

      • Could you please share a link about this? If we choose DisplayLink adapters, we need to install the additional drivers in advance I think.
And the DisplayLink's adapters usually have the higher cost recently.

  • Does the USB c port work as a file transfer or a power delivery to the hub only? I had a similar hub that would not recognize an iPhone via its USB c port.

    • Hello,

The USB C female port of the Dockteck DT0007 hub can support power delivery function.

It does not support data function, so the type-c female port does not support a file transfer.

      Kind regards,

      Logan
