Decent 8 port power board, with wide enough spacing, 1.8m lead. Yes it was $20 earlier at Good guys earlier, but for right now this seems good. Price match at office works for 5% off (they couldn't do by phone, but did in store for me).

No USB, but I never trust power board USB anyway.

700 J absorption, but I didn't buy it for its surge protection. no idea how good it really is but that seems to be a midrange amount.

Sockets at least hold the plugs securely initially, which is more than I can say for the cheap ones.

In before JV posts his preference for the Jackson 5 for the 99th time.

    • Got a laugh out of me

  • 700 joules is far from midrange in terms of energy absorption. It needs to be at least somewhere between 1600 and 2000 joules. The old Dicksmith 6 way Surge Catcher is rated at 1675 joules. I've still got two lying in the garage.

I have a 4 socket Jackson and the sockets are so tight that the pins get bent when I insert/remove them.

Get the cyberpower one instead. Far better surge protection and 2 x usb. They are $35 at a few places that are just a Google search away.

    • yeah sounds like a good option, and I looked at them too, but there were a few reports of them having loose sockets so I went for the Jackson. but will probably try one to compare.
