Best way to negotiate new Vodafone plan?

Have been with Voda for a decade. Currently on shared data plan between phone and iPad - $70/month for 50GB. Saw mobile plans of 100GB for $45/month, went into store and got told it's "only for new customers". Best they can do is $60/month for 80GB.

This is bullshit. How can I get a better deal?

Cancel and then sign up to new plan.

went into store and got told it's "only for new customers your loyalty to us counts for nothing".

^^ This is what they really told you. Remember it for next time when you have to renew anything.

Nowadays if you want loyalty get yourself a dog.

It's the same for Insurance companies, Utility providers etc. A new customer is worth more to them than an old one.

Just cancel your plan and get a new plan.

Personally I would just go elsewhere.

  • proceed with cancelling the service, bring them to their knees and then negotiate

Yep loyalty is worth jack these days.
Jump on a telstra offer from jbhifi or the good guys and get a $500 gift card while ya at it.

  • tell the staff they will be winning the cricket.

  • Have been with Voda for a decade - Ozbargain much?

    • Yes, I've cycled through 3 iPhones and an Android device during that time. Their plans have been good value and their global roaming plans are excellent.

Ask live chat and say you will cancel asap if no better deal

+1 to this. I have mostly been with Vodafone the last few years other than a brief stint with Woolworths mobile. Every time I wanted something they advertised but wasn't available to me as an existing customer I just spoke to live chat on their website and they gave me the advertised deal. It usually was pretty quick as well.

  • Port your mobile out to a $2 SIM and cancel the ipad SIM. Then you can grab the new plan as you are a new customer.

  • Switch out from Vodafone, loyalty means jack these days.

    Just wait for an sms
They are currently offing 60GB + 40GB retention offers at the moment

  • How can I get a better deal?

By switching to any other provider.
Hardly any of the them offer their existing customers the same deals as new customers. They're not interested in retention.
So you find the best deal with someone else and when that expires, you do it all again.

  • Same. Been with them for years and there’s no loyalty.
Went in yesterday as I’d like a new phone and no discussions for discount.
I’m out of contract so can go anywhere but been with them for so long I don’t even know who…..except it will not be Telstra !

  • Don’t panic. Your out of contract and your spend & value is pretty good (all the Black Friday/Cyber Monday, Xmas) deals are gone, so it’s time to look around & tread water.

Checkout Whistleout mobile website and check back on ozb for a offer worthy of your massive contributions to the bottom line

  • Call them. Phone Sales have a-lot more room to negotiate then the in store staff.

    • True. I called Optus and they price matched $30 100gb talk/text and now unlimited data at 1.5mbs with the circle $30/100gb. Amazing deal, so I ported in and best, no contract!

      Otherwise https://felixmobile.com.au/plan

Vodafone network, unlimited talk text & unlimited data @25mbs (double peak adsl2 peak speed, 4K streaming) $35 with optional overseas and roaming add-ons

And but a cheap outright headset and never be contracted again! Freedom!!!!

And wait for a better deal…
