adidas Ultraboost DNA 5.0 x Pharrell Williams Human Race Triple Black $199.95 [RRP $280] (Free Shipping) @ Foot Locker

700

Not the cheapest triple black ultraboosts but they are the Pharrell Williams Human Nature collaboration collection edition. Don't know why it doesn't state it on the Footlocker website but you can clearly see the Hu Triangle symbol on the back. I can double confirm since I receieved mine earlier today and purchased a second pair for when this pair dies. They are definitely a bit more snug and comfy compared to original Ultraboosts. Bit odd that they went on sale cause when I asked in-store, they don't have them stocked in any retail store in QLD and they are grouped with every other ordinary Ultraboost ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Ultraboosts are used 99% of the time as a lifestyle/casual sneaker anyways so it doesn't really matter.

    • +1

Wasn't asking, anyone that buys ultraboosts aren't primarily looking for a running shoe, they're generally overpriced for running shoes and everyone knows that but they look significantly better than most of the 'running' shoe market competitors.

      • +4

I use them as a running shoe. They’re supportive, light and comfortable. I usually buy them for ~$100 which is pretty cheap for a running shoe.

        • +2

Same. Smashed a few half-marathons last year in Ultraboost PBs without any complaints.

    • Run? LOLLLLL

    • You obviously never had one. Ultra boost is comfy af

  • To be fair ub is not awesome as running shoes but it's alright and acceptable to run with.

    • +2

I swore by them for a while as they were comfortable and I had no foot issues when training in them. Then I tried them for longer distances and got a blister on the arch of my foot. Not sure if it's on all models but the stitching inside the shoe that connects the rear sole to the midsole is large enough to rub and destroy my foot but only in that >10km range.

      • Sorry to hear that, maybe that's exactly the problem: it's not designed to handle 10km+ lol

What's different about the Pharell Williams Collab?

    • +1

Small aesthetic differences, insole has a pretty neat diagram about foot pressure points, small Human Race accents on the rear heal cup, comes with the reflective round laces (comes with regular ultraboost laces if you aren't a fan of them)

  • what do people here actually run with. like 10km Runs a few times a week. I love the comfort of ultraboost and was using them before I really started running + buy them on sale for 100 or so but I burn thru them every few months and maybe I need to look at something better

    • Honestly depends on how much you're willing to spend and how often you go running and if you do any other training. If you're exclusively running; Nike Air Zoom Tempo NEXT% are the best new release running shoes with insane spring in your step but they are quite pricey if you didn't get them during the last recent Nike sale.

Back in the days we use to run barefoot :)

        But not on concrete.

I run about 2-3 10km runs a week and have run in a wide variety of shoes. St the moment I'm using Nike infinity react but cycling through a few different pairs as I over-pronate (Heel strike) leaving them to wear fairly quick. In the past I've run with kayanos and loved them.
Personally though, I'd prefer getting 2 pairs of reacts v 2 pair of kayanos as the reacts generally come in better colourways that can be used as casual shoes

Keen to hear what others have/do too

      • +1

I find the Kayano's, whilst supportive and feel like they will run all day, so heavy. Like you're wearing Clogs. Particularly if you compare it to a Nike React.

      • Issue I had with Kayanos as they are too harsh on your feet, I been using Ultraboost ST but agree with heel strike and over pronate more likely to roll in these… I would love something similar to Ultraboost

    • I have UB20's. I'm sure there are better shoes out there, but so far they've served me well.

    • +2

You pretty much need to ignore specific shoes suggested here.. Go to a real shoe shop where they watch you run in slow mo and fit your shoe properly.

      People pronate etc differently.

Buy two of the same shoe and swap them each time and they'll last longer.

I had mizunos and they lasted ages.

    • NB 1080v10 and/or Pegasus 37. 5-6 days a week for long runs. Both great.

    • I use to swear by UB's as they were the original shoes that got me into running.

Many 1000's of KM's later, I would now recommend people stay away from UBs for running. They're a fantastic everyday shoe but lack any real stability.

I alternate between my Kayano's and Brooks Adrenaline GTS for running.

    • I use hoka one one clifton. Very good on asphalt and concrete paths.

Before those I swore by brooks adrenaline or something like that.

    • It depends on your running style (whether you underprontate, overpronate, or have a fairly neutral footstrike) and even more so what feels comfortable for you. Check out some of the Nike pegasus models, as you can usually get last seasons models for a heavily discounted price, brooks, asics, hoka one one etc. Preferably try a bunch on in store and see what feels best for you, as buying running shoes blind is a bit of a gamble.

I have a pair of Nike Pegasus Turbo 2's which feel like they are made for me and my running style, and a pair of Brooks Glycerins which are really solid for longer runs but don't feel as light and springy as my Turbo 2's.

  • From far you really can’t see this pharrell details man

  • +1

    look like junk

  • +8

Does Pharrell even run, or will these shoes help me produce sick beats?

    • +1

Why not just produce beats while running?

      • You ever tried running 300bpm? That's alot of footsteps..

  • Only size 7 and 8 left

    • -8

Imao!!! Say thank you to hoarders. Not satisfied with purchasing one pair and buying second pair when it dies.

      • +1

        Stay classy

Not worth unless you really like Pharrell Williams. Pretty much giving him free $80. These usually go on sale for 120
