Can I Ask to Refunded to a Card if Purchased Using Account Credit? (KOGAN)

Hi

Here's the situation. I saw that Kogan was having a massive sale on the Dunlopillo Memory Pillows. I purchased discounted Gift Cards to purchase 3 of these. Unfortunately, when delivered, they were mouldy (which is weird since they're supposed to antimicrobial). I contacted Kogan and they said they are unable to issue a replacement as the replacement is likely to have moulds (yet they are still listing the items). They were happy to issue a refund but only as an Account Credit.

Is there a way I can convince them to issue the refund to my card or bank account? Is there something I can cite?

Thanks

no. refund as account credit is fair enough.

Thing is I more than likely never buy from kogan again so it like credit I won’t use.

That's the problem with using discounted gift cards. Retailers only refund to the original purchase method.

That's the risk of using gift cards - especially discounted gift cards.

It's a security measure to prevent fraud, as people will purchase gift cards with stolen credit cards, use them to purchase items, and then return the items and try to return them onto proper credit cards. Money straight in the thieves pockets.

It's the whole reason behind "refunds must be made onto original card"

The best you can hope for is returning onto the gift cards (but some gift cards are unable to do that).

You can have a refund in the form of gift cards, which account credit is the equivalent of

There's the issue with discount gift cards…

  • Say you want refund to same form of purchase and you also want a $20 coupon for waste of time and mould nearly causing your dear child pneumonia /s. GL

Retailers only refund to the original purchase method used, which in this case was 'gift cards' aka store credit.

    I purchased discounted Gift Cards

So you purchased discounted gift cards, and now want the full amount 'refunded'. Yeah doesn't work like that.

Try harder, Kogan sells LOTS of stuff, I'm sure you can find something to buy from them to use up your credit.

No… that’s not what happened. The gift card itself is discounted and applied to account credit. I still technically buy the items full price using the credit.

Yes we all know how discounted gift cards work…. So lets say you paid $285 for $300 in kogan giftcards…..

Are you asking for $285 refund as in what you paid or the face value of the gift cards?

        Yeah so as I said

        also as I said

Ahh got you sorry just feeling defensive. I don’t know I want to buy their other products when they are wilfully selling mouldy pillows. I just got a new pair from Harris scarfe, hopefully they’re more legit.

Ummm yeah nah. I'm sorry you can't understand basic concepts.

It was most likely a supplier issue. I'm sure Kogan didn't go out of its way to make your pillows mouldy.

I'm the Kogan product had been legit.
