Let's play the game of how many different colours you can make in your carpet! My son actually took delight in running in to my office (bedroom) to tell me that there was orange pen on the carpet yesterday because he knows that I go mental and get the carpet cleaner out immediately and wants to help when I do. Talk about slowly being driven insane!

When friends/relatives ask what to get my kids for gifts I literally just say “I don’t care, just not Play-Doh.”

I never liked the original ever since finding out you can make your own. It's smoother and nicer to work with, too. Unsweetened packets aren't easy to get in AU but you can use food colouring. However, the Kool-aid packets give the wonderful smell of the drink, as well as the colour. The salt stops mold from growing AND stops (hopefully) little ones from eating the stuff- lol.

    2-1⁄2 cups flour

    1⁄2 cup salt

    2x (4 g) packages unsweetened Kool-Aid powdered drink mix

    2 cups boiling water

    3 tablespoons oil

Mix flour, salt, Kool-Aid until blended.
Add oil to boiling water, mix with spoon until cool enough to knead.
Continue kneading until color is blended.
Store in air tight bag or container in the refrigerator.

Wife gets this stuff from friends in play group.

She places it in the fridge, I move it directly to the garbage bin.

      • You're a Boss Hugo (pun intended).

If you leave them for too long they split and go oily. You can work them back to their former glory if you kneed it enough.

      How about Playdoh though?

So you're telling me I should knead it if I really need it

    They also taste good.

  • Good deal… but honestly as someone who bought a shedload of these small tubs in a recent deal, I've realised it's not that useful to buy in bulk.

I almost asked my wife if we want this. Comments saved me. Thanks!

  • i remember the smell of play-doh

Save the middle man, buy it and put it directly in the bin..

No point saying don't mix the colours, turn your back for 1 second and not only are they mixed but more tubs were opened and mixed.

Bloody stuff goes everywhere. I have a million tubs of the colour $hit….

Thanks OP I got one to replace all our dried up stuff and another one for gifts for all those parents that say get them anything but Play-Doh.lol

    • There's a place in hell reserved for you… ;-)

      • You can bin this one too.
