Jamjar / Plastiq Cashback Site Shuts Down

Got an email that Jamjar/Plastiq is shutting down.

Dear Member,

We are writing to you today to advise you of the closure of Plastiq Pty Ltd’s cashback platform, JamJar.

We understand that you may have a balance in your account of available and/or pending cashback funds. As you are aware, validation periods are up to 120 days, so we will be looking to process all payments at that time allowing the merchant partners to remit their cashbacks. We will use best endeavours to do this by end May 2021.

We will be in touch again to advise you of your cashback balance and what information is required to process your payment.

Thank you for having supported the platform.

JamJar Launched in October 2020 with Plastiq launched early 2020.

Wonder what happened. Surely there is room for more than 2 players in the market.

  • At least they will pay their members.

    Who?
First i have ever heard of them

    Fingers crossed the pay out.
A quick bankruptcy filing and no one gets paid

the cashback company that rebranded themselves due to ozb’rs !

  • That was quick

  • Never register it. I know it just looks for quick bucks.

  • You seem to know all of these obscure cashback sites no one else has heard of.

Surely there is room for more than 2 players in the market.

GoCashbackAU? Why else would they be on some deals?

They Clearly didnt bribe Scotty to be on the list of cashback offers in deal listings

      • +2

JamJar/Plastiq actually emailed us in late November last year, asking how to be included on the cashback list for the deals. I replied with some guidelines + sample JSON data they need to provide us via an API, and that's the last time we heard from them…

        • I stand corrected

They will rebrand, thats my prediction

        • What do you think their reasoning for not replying back was? Throwing it in the too hard basket?

          • +1

@Clear: No idea, but I don't think "too hard" is a valid reason. ShopRewards asked to be included in our NZ site back in early 2019. Sent them the spec on Friday, and they got it implemented & went live on Saturday.

            • @scotty: I was more thinking they didn't have their API ready but who knows. I've seen ShopRewards a lot at cheapies. I like to think their name is inspired by Cashrewards and Shopback.

              • @Clear: they probably have a rookie developer. I recall they had their login and signup buttons misplaced and nonfunctioning on the main page

                • @skido: They probably pulled a Fairfax and outsource their web development to cheap Indian labour.

        • what is this “cashback list for the deals” that you speak of?

  • Hopefully I see my $10…

  • LOL WHAT A FLOP.

  • I have $68 pending in my account. I've prepared to lose them…

  • Requested for withdrawal more than 2 weeks ago. Haven't received anything. Goodbye $10

  • They seemed Suss from the start tbh.

Cashback from Catch website pending since October. Emailed them regarding the issue, received zero response!

    • Yep no response here as well to cashback tracked in December from rep posting deals here only for them to close down less than a month later.

Tried both email as well as Facebook

    • I'm in the same boat…

    • Same here.

    • Still waiting when it's May already… They've got 20 days left to get their crap together

      • Well may has come and went. So we can just move on now. We aren't getting anything from them it's pretty clear

Have emailed support and the 2 email addresses listed on the whois for the co-founder. No response yet.

  • Not looking good with this mob… I have more than $25 cashback pending

  • has anyone had any response from these guys yet?

    • +5

So far contacted with no response:

      • Jamjar support multiple times
      • David (founder)
      • Tricia (co-founder)

Shark Tank Andrew Banks is next. :)

        No responses here either.

[email protected] is now no longer working and bouncing back error messages

        Message blocked

The response from the remote server was:
        550 5.4.1 Recipient address rejected: Access denied. AS(201806281) [SY4AUS01FT016.eop-AUS01.prod.protection.outlook.com]

The fact they continue to operate and sign up people is pretty dodgy either way.

Looking if anyone still checking their lost cashback… :(
and Yes, i got exactly the same bouncing back error messages… :(

  • What can we do now?

    • +1

What about contacting the merchants to see if they have remitted the funds to JamJar?

      • I have tried The Card Network. Have not got any response yet.

  • Did anyone get anything back? I'm still on pending for plenty of cashback

    • +1

      Nope, don't hold your breath

      • Mm thought this might be the case. Certainly not expecting anything, that's for sure. So much for finalisation by May

  • App is not available in App Store anymore :(
