How Much Should I Advertise My MacBook Air 2014 That Has Problems Running?

The fan goes into overdrive and slows down completely, I have taken it to get looked at but its not repairable without buying some expensive part apparently, so I know it won't be worth a lot, but how much should I advertise it for? Do people buy these for parts? maybe someone might buy it to try fix?

Start with a highish number and bring it down a little each week nobody shows any interest.

Or if you need to sell it faster, take it to cash converters and see what they offer. Advertise on gumtree/Facebook for halfway between that and a normal second hand price for the same machine.

Or try to find one in a similar condition on ebay that sold, and advertise on gumtree/Facebook for that amount minus like 20% (cause of fees and you have a smaller audience than on ebay).

Whatever you do make sure to only accept cash so you don't get scammed.

  • $150 as is

Sounds like that would happen with people too when they run.

  • Better check ebay for reference.

OTOH, I’ve seen mac with bad battery got throttled badly, so if your battery is not good, you may try replacing it or remove some os files to get it to usable state.

  • Possibly a failed temp sensor.

  • "parts only"

I'd buy the new air which has no fan or moving parts, it might last you longer.

  • $50
