$80 a Year Challenge for Unlimited Calls/Text and Minimum 15GB/Month Data

Hi there,

I am on a mission to spend no more than $80 this year on having a mobile phone plan, with reasonable use of data per month (lets say minimum 15gb a month). Looking at the forums and bargains here, I think this is possible if i swap and change SIM cards a few times this year.

This was my plan of action so far, but would love to see what you've done to keep that mobile phone bill at an all time low. Would love to see your ideas on how to finish the last 3 months.

  1. Kogan 90 day plan - 20 GB/month - $15 (3 months)
  2. Gomo 3 months + 3 months free promotion - 18GB/ month - $52 (6 months)
  3. To spend no more than $13 for the remainder 3 months.

Do you think this a good plan or do you think I should abort and go for another approach?

Do note that I live in a metropolitan city and reception on most networks aren't a problem for where I live and work. Also the prices aren't valid right now as I got them when they were all on sale.

Probably you have to start with Gomo as the 3months free promotion ends on 28 Feb. I would be keen to hear others strategy as well.

agree, kogan voucher is good to 2022 so start with Gomo
      1. Gomo 3 months + 3 months free promotion - 18GB/ month - $52 (6 months) Feb-Aug
      2. Kogan 90 day plan - 20 GB/month - $15 (3 months) Aug-Nov
alt. throw in some 28 day /30 day $5 /$10 sim starter packs from Optus and Vodafone.

    I usually go with:
    Kogan 90 days $15 (sometimes on sale $4.90) 20gbs
Catch (used to have 90 days) but I still use their $5 1 month sim
Belong $20 half price/bonus referral for 4 months
Back to Kogan rinse and repeat…

  • It is not new. It is even possible to manage 5 numbers at this cost.

  • can do it for $60, if you're prepared for regular porting, and buying multiple sim starter packs when on special for $5.
