[Always Free] Offset Carbon/Plant Trees by Searching The Web @ Ecosia

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Not sure if this one is allowed here, but since planting trees to offset carbon is getting more and more common, I thought this free way of contributing would kinda fit the bill here.

Make Ecosia your new search engine and plant trees with your searches - for free!

It's really simple: use Ecosia instead of Google as your search engine, Ecosia plants trees with about 80% of their profits.

I've been using Ecosia both at home as well as at work for about half a year now, and I haven't missed Google really. (some other search engines don't give great results)

Extension
You can install extension for most major browsers to use Ecosia as a default.
Chrome | Firefox | Safari*

*Last month or so, Apple has shipped Ecosia as one of their default browsers in Safari for MacOS and iOS! Just go to Safari > Preferences > Search > Search Engine

From their website:

More than CO2 neutral

Brave + Duckduckgo is a better match. No ads, no tracking and free BAT.

    • I'm using Brave on mobile (but they stopped giving BAT recently on iOS because of some T&Cs by Apple), but still waiting for Ecosia to be available there, there's been a lot of people asking about it but no ETA just yet.

Brave + Ecosia would be awesome!

    • I stopped using duckduckgo after I noticed I was repeating every search in google anyway by adding "!g" in front of the search every time DDG didn't show me anything close to what I wanted, which was 100% of the time.

      • Yeah I always found the results of DDG subpar. In related news, Brave now offers default support for Ecosia!
