Huge Inflation of Preowned Xbox Consoles since Last Month?? Why?

Looking at getting a second hand Xbox. Figured it’s a good way to try before spending 750 on a Series X!

Ebay sold listings have DOUBLED in cost since December? I don’t understand why? Like, damaged 3 yr old consoles selling 59 bucks under RRP?

Eb games is actually cheaper for preowned ?

Edit: should I just do the splurge for a series x? Comments got me thinking how the difference isn’t the significant anymore because of how delusional everyone is…

Advertised and selling are 2 different things…

people are becoming delusional having being locked up too long….

    • Check sold listings. It’s selling? I didn’t think it was until I saw a Series X go for 410 yesterday lol I’ve also seen some Series X’s go around the same price as a One S 1TB lol.

      • You saw a series x sell for 410 when the series x still isn't really in stock quite yet at 749 RRP?

Oh sorry, One X! The names are so similar I mix them up.

I was considering selling my old Xbox but its a Day One Original 500GB Xbox…not sure what its worth. Maybe $100-150? I figure anything less than $120, and I will just keep it and use it in the second living room…

    • I sold mine for $250 with 1 controller and 4 games (FO4, RDR2, HaloMCC and Halo 5) in early December.

Mix of people like you that want premium but not a $750 premium, people that are trying to recoup as much of the $750 as possible.

Also EB had level 4 trade in values at $400+ so they have set the perceived value.

And I’m sure there are still some clueless mums and dads buying the one x thinking it’s a series x.

    • I did that for the PS5. The 400+ value was for level 4 members for two console types only (One X And Pro). Which is why I kind of understood the One X pricing logic by people but One S was about 200 credit, or just under for level 4 members.

But I can see people misunderstanding the Eb games trade credit pricing varies….

I’m more comfortable spending 750 new gen than 300-400 older gen without warranty.

I think I’ll go with the Series X!

  • People have bought them while in strict lockdown and don’t want it now?

Probably more people getting confused, thinking they're getting last years console for half price

  • The One X was discontinued shortly before the Series S and Series X was released.

  • I guess you aren't looking hard enough OP, or being inpatient. The good deals sell fast. Bought a One X recently in a bundle, I'd say $150-$200 for the console itself (which is in great condition) if I sold the extras.

  • Gumtree or Facebook marketplace, cash in person for best prices. ebay is usually inflated as it's national prices + shipping needs to be included.
