Belong nbn. if I Cancel after a Year, How Long Do I Need to Wait before I Am Considered a New Customer Again?

As per the subject line.

After the first year you pay an extra $5 per month. New customers also get an $80 sim card.

Just curious how long one has to be a non-customer for and if you are considered a new customer again?

A bit like car insurance. I shop around every year and it is almost always cheaper to sign up with my current insurer as a new customer rather than renew.

Thanks,
Carl

  • I wish to know this myself, and for other companies like energy Australia etc. If only there is a wiki on this topic.

i think you can re-contract for another year to save $5/month.
but if you're after the $80 credit worth of mobile, then you will need to port out and sign up using a new email address.

With all the better services why would you want to go with belong

    ABB / Superloop etc

  • You have to wait until you die and are reincarnated. Then you will be a new customer.

  • Just say you want to recontract for the $5/month and $80 gift card like a new customer. Sales folk have KPIs and the incentives don't come from their pay. It's a win-win.

    • Except Belong is now so sh*t you cannot even contact the sales team on the phone.

Before COVID, you can contact them over the phone for new sales or support inquiries for broadband, and only mobile used support requests. Now if you need to contact them, it has to be done via support requests for all products.

      • Do they still have live chat?

        • Nope.

          See for yourself: https://www.belong.com.au/go/support

They don't even list their phone number anymore after the website refresh they have been working on for the past couple of months.

I think they have completely off-shored their support team.

Someone mentioned Facebook messenger in a separate thread.

          • @DoctorCalculon: you can make contact through the app and they'll arrange a call

  • If you are on $55, Tangerine seems to be a better option at same price point, but provides fast connection speed 40Mbps. Food for thought.

I'm on the same boat with Belong. Now jumping to Felix to test it out and save another $20 per month.

  • Superloop's 50/20 is $59.95 for 6 months, not sure why you'd go with Belong for $65 and be locked in for 12 months. Actually I don't know why you'd go with any ISP that charges you more for a month to month deal.

Take SL's 6 month deal then switch to another provider if the price goes up. Generally you can change every 6 months for the promo rate. If you use the referral system, I think you also get $10 off per month so it's a no brainer.
