Returning an Item to AliExpress in China

Hey guys,

If I needed to send a package back to an AliExpress seller in mainland China, which would be the most OzBargain trusted company to use?

Anyone who has done this recently, would you be able to advise how long this would take? Am I looking at 4 - 6 weeks?

  • Some sellers have a local address you send it to (that’s what I had to do when I returned something in December)

Also, Chinese New Year is on now. Lot of sellers are on holiday, and postage would be extra slow

    • Unfortunately, no local address for this seller. 😩

Lot of sellers are on holiday, and postage would be extra slow

      Crap! 🤬
In any case, do you know of any company that you would trust for postage?
EMS and DHL are both on the expensive side.

    • Also, Chinese New Year is on now.

      eh, it’s three weeks away

      • 4 weeks of annual leave.

Oh they don't have annual leave so it is cheaper to make our products.

whats the item ? let us know please

  • did you use paypal to pay?

    • Yes. PayPal was used.
I guess I can claim the return shipping cost (the option was activated a long time ago on my account).

      • yes. use whatever service from Aus Post.

  • If it gets there it will take 3 months

If the item is valued under $10, let it slide.

I bought a cordless shaver once (~$20), and it went bung after about 2 weeks. sent them a video, and they said its natural and closed the case.

I have bought over 500 items on aliexpress, with 99% satisfaction. It was easy to not worry about that one thing.

Edit: Please let us know your solution!

  • Worst. experience. ever..

I'm waiting for a $630 refund from a seller since sept.

2x radios were faulty, so I had to send them back. I missed the 15 day return period due to lockdowns and needing to uninstall the radio.

Shipped them back (at my own expense)

Even after the Aus post 'delivered' mark was put against the tracking number he reckons it wasn't until 3 weeks later he got them and is claiming they were damaged in transit since I didn't pack them well enough. Obviously I was trying to keep volume/weight costs down and the radios were borderline useless.

Now he reckons radios are fixed with a firmware.

That is insane. I feel for you.

      needing to uninstall the radio.

What kind of radios are these?

I am guessing you couldn't use PayPal back then because it wasn't available.

Unfortunately, AliExpress will always side with the seller unless the buyer can provide evidence to counter the seller's lies.

  • UPDATE: Since I was dealing with a dishonest seller, I decided not to ship anything back. It gives them an opportunity to claim they did not receive the package even if it is tracked. I have read too many anecdotes of this happening on Reddit.

In my dispute, I applied to keep all items AND asked for a partial refund for the faulty router.
AliExpress initially sided with the seller. I appealed with another video, and they finally provided a partial refund which was much lower than expected.

They subtracted all the coupons ($11 USD) used at the time of purchase. I guess that's their money.
However, they did not refund back the GST amount, which really pisses me off.

Their chat system is completely offline due to the New Lunar Year celebrations.

Does anyone know the email address for their customer service team?
