iPhone 8 Camera Replacement Cost?

I’ve had an issue with my phone camera not focusing properly and a large consistent blurry patch, whether taking pictures or video. I think the camera likely needs replacement. I contacted Apple but they were not able to provide an approximate cost for replacing the camera. It is difficult for me to get to the Apple store and I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth doing this or if I should purchase a new phone (probably iPhone XR). Does anyone know what the camera replacement would likely cost?

    Are you using a case with magnets? Checking online there’s been reports that magnets can affect the camera focusing. Take your phone out from the case and test the camera again?

    The camera on the XR is crap, so wouldn't go for that phone.

    Buy a new phone and see if apple will take old one as a trade in

    Probably obvious question but is the outside clean? Is it the same issue for the internal and external camera?

      That was a good thought. Lens is clean and it’s just the rear facing camera

    My child got quoted $180 from apple but after looking into it apple ended up giving her a new phone for free.

    If you can, it’s really worth booking that appointment with the Genius Bar or your closest Apple place. They can outright tell you if it’s a software issue and, if so, fix it on the spot.

    If it’s out of warranty, they may offer to switch it for a refurb or do repairs.

    But, seriously, book that appointment.
